I'm fully behind his bringing back the double space after the full stop though! I didn't realise that one space was the standard now until I got told off my the comms person in work a couple of months ago.
Double spaces are bollocks.

This is the first time I’ve heard of a double space after a full stop

Pete is correct. People who write code are not qualified to comment.

Dunno what you’re on about Rev, he seems very concerned with current events.

Never heard of that either. On an iPhone if you double tap the space bar it does a full stop and one space which is what I would do if I was typing normally.

I’ve looked it up and it’s because typewriters left smaller spaces so it looked odd and was done to make new sentences more clear but ever since the advent of the computer it’s pointless.

Stop talking about his quirky views on measurements and start talking about his voting record.
Which is basically the embodiment of an entitled, moneyed fucksock who wants to go back to the the 1950s, with all that entails.

It’s all just the tip of a regressive iceberg.

Jobbo is, unsurprisingly, correct (as is Pete).

But software seems to do it automatically? If you look closely it seems that spacing is greater after any form of punctuation versus between words.

JIC. I lay the same law down in our office. I was once asked by a client to remove all double spacing and refused. Told him someone else could do it if he wanted.

No it isn't. I can read a document and tell you whether double spacing is used or not.

It’s anachronistic bollocks, just like JRM.

Oxford comma goes before 'and', that's talking about commas after 'and'.

Ok I'm probably going to be shown up as a fool here, but isn't JRM obviously correct on this point as well? The oxford comma should come before the 'and' rather than after it.
