Alan Davies talking watches, watch history, and comparisons
(Not actually Alan Davies)
I'm a big fan of that channel - they do some great videos and I really like the way they present them...

The Autodromo Prototipo was a watch I first saw mentioned in Evo - that's got a rather nice cushion case shape and looks pretty funky. Still like the Longines reissue I posted above more, but here are the details: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/autod ... ipo-review

I'd prefer those if the cases were more uniform in shape and didn't grow top and bottom. But then it'd look a little like an Omega, which I'm also not keen on

Different type of watch but I like their '80s style Gruppe B model too:

The cases are symmetrical up/down aren't they? If they look bigger at the bottom I'm sure that's a trick of the light. The part I'm not so sure about is the hidden lugs, which makes a cushion case look so much more 70s than it would otherwise.

'Cushion case' - more Googling required for me here!

It’s simply what it looks like - it’s not something like a tourbillon.

Same answer applies except tourbillon - I don't know anything

There's another sale on at Christopher Ward at the moment, 15% off the Trident collection. I do like the bronze version.

Hate the font of the new logo otherwise decent watches.

I really dislike that logo and "9 o'clock" positioning too.
And confusingly they are using another logo (which I assume is Swiss flag + English flag) on their C7s. Which seems very inconsistent, and therefore - rather stoopid.

Interesting video from Watchfinder
Would you rather one nice watch (in this case a Rolex Submariner for £5.5k), or a collection of 3 “lesser” watches? It’s a great question.
What do you guys think?
For me, I prefer just one nicer watch. I’ve chosen something I like, and can be worn for almost all situations

Easy, the Rolex Sub.

I’d go for 3 lesser ones. I know the Sub is just an example of a more premium offering, but it doesn’t do much for me.

That one’s easy JL: it’s an immensely expensive yet utterly pointless complication that nobody in their right mind would consider sensible.

Interesting the topic of tourbillons comes up...
I was at a meeting not long ago where our local law legal counsel was sat next to me... his watch caught my eye: a Lange & Sohne 1815 Tourbillon. A snip at £120,000. Made my eyes bulge slightly
