Presumably Krypton is only acceptable on Exiges?
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Yes for an Elise. I'm not too fussy about car colours in general, but some of the greens used by Lotus seem a bit off.GG. wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 2:54 pmThis has to go into the pantheon of massive incorrectness I'm afraid.
Oak and Viper on 911s, Boston on e36s, Verde Scuro or Verde Miura on Lamborghini Miuras, Verde Francesca or Pino Verde on Ferraris - the list goes on and on!
If you are talking solely about Elises then maybe I'll let you off.
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Quite possibly the pick of the bunch if you don't want to pay the premium for the lumpy sport 160. The vvc K series is actually a really good engine at ~150hp and feels really torquey so the 111's feels a good chunk quicker than a standard S1.
Mine is a technically a 111s which I bought with 38k miles on it and I did 200 miles before I took it to pieces and it was genuinely good fun. Values seem to be up and down like a fiddlers elbow though, mine was £10300 in 2012 in really nice condition and absolutely everything was just like it had left they factory. A few years later similar cars were going for close to £30k and they're now back down to around £20k

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
It was called Scandal on the S1 wasn't it? Early road test 111S used in the mags was Scandal Green. Looked amazing.
ETA: here you go, think this was from the Autocar road test

i also need to sell my M2 and buy a van (with equally obsessive criteria) along the way, but i’m maybe flexible on which order i do it!

Indeed, Scandal green is amazing and I have seen them look great in Viper green among others. I'm trying to think of a green that didn't work on an S1.Jobbo wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 3:19 pmIt was called Scandal on the S1 wasn't it? Early road test 111S used in the mags was Scandal Green. It's orange on an S1 Elise that you want to avoid. For orange you need the wings and bits of an Exige, whichever series it is IMO.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
K-turbo was a bit of a meh engine to improve torque using a smaller engine with lower co2 emissions, they were only 150bhp or so despite the 140 bhp vvc then 160 versions having been out for many years before.
As standard if you tried winding them up they would melt pretty quickly, but some people have got silly power out of them with at least a hint of reliability.
I always liked the k, seemed to have an oldschool engine type character but was nice to drive and respond nicely to some pretty affordable tuning.
They’re a good match to the S1 imho, I would be very happy with an s1 111s
Cheers, Harry

Always been a fan on the K-Series...my 135 was an absolute peach of an engine. Quite a few, including EVO, rated the S1 135 Sport as being the best S1 of them all.
Anyway, enough of this. I've found the car for you Rich. Close the thread, get it bought:

Ah, I'm thinking of the T-series engine in the Tomcat Turbo, that's where I'm getting confused!integrale_evo wrote: Fri Oct 04, 2024 4:43 pmK-turbo was a bit of a meh engine to improve torque using a smaller engine with lower co2 emissions, they were only 150bhp or so despite the 140 bhp vvc then 160 versions having been out for many years before.
