Nicely done.
I don't know anything 'bout anything but reading that made me flinch. Ouch.
Guaranteed higher finishing place in your age category tooGavin wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 11:05 am Had to defer my Ultra place until next year as I found out the reason I was in considerable pain was that I had misligned my pelvis. On the plus side, I will be in the 50+ category next year, so a good way to celebrate my half century!
They’re smashing it with these constant PBs!DeskJockey wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 10:51 am Middle one took 19 seconds off his junior park run PB this morning. I ran with the youngest who did her second best time.
Yup. Aiming for sub-10 mins next time. He did a 10:10 today.Gavster wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 1:58 pmThey’re smashing it with these constant PBs!DeskJockey wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 10:51 am Middle one took 19 seconds off his junior park run PB this morning. Sounds lovely - I try to run in the woods whenever I can, I'm only a mile or so from the start of Epping Forest so it's easy to get into the woods on a long run. I often hear that being amongst nature is scientifically proven to have mood-boosting benefits, need to remember that, as it's easy to just do the same pavement slogs each week.DeskJockey wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 8:55 am Just got back from a run. Did my favourite thing of getting lost in the woods and just going where my feet took me and ended up running somewhere new. Only downside is I don't backtrack so had a longer road run to get home.
Even so, the difference in mental feel between running in the woods and on the road is marked. I'm so much calmer in the woods even though I'm listening to metal.
Are you at the stage of not being able to keep up, if you were running with him and not your youngest?DeskJockey wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:41 pmYup. Aiming for sub-10 mins next time. I generally run through town most of the time but being on the edge of the Cotswolds is a bonus - on a weekend when I have more time I’ll have a 10-20 min car journey out, park up and have a more scenic run. It’s definitely way more enjoyable.DeskJockey wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 8:55 am Even so, the difference in mental feel between running in the woods and on the road is marked. We've not been to park run since that time. Too many things taking up Sundays, but I'm hoping we can go this week.JonMad wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 9:58 amAre you at the stage of not being able to keep up, if you were running with him and not your youngest?DeskJockey wrote: Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:41 pmYup. We're now sub-28 for the 5k![]()
I'll be fine for a while I think. I did one on my own the other week in 26m30something. Way off my PB of 21m04 but that was in 2009 and I know I'll never be back there. I'd like to think I could get back to sub 25 once the boy gets that fast - we'll improve together. I used to be able to push my daughter round in her buggy at that pace!
Also maturity probably gives you an advantage when it comes to pacing for the whole 5k, rather than the excitement of doing the first part like it’s a mile sprintDeskJockey wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 12:15 pmWe've not been to park run since that time. He's faster off the line, but I can normally catch him about a quarter of the way round. The joys of carrying little weight...
Edit: can you keep up?
