One of the most irritating things about Maurice was the drivers seatbelt which was the wrong way round and twisted. Another example of lazy-ass people doing half a job.
Anyway to get the seatbelt off the seat mounting you have to take the seat out - or at least lift it up.
£2.60 and EUR2.01 later, Maurice has made a small contribution to his own running costs. And now the seatbelt doesn't drive me nuts.
The carpets need to come out ideally, or at least both seats fully removing and being shampoo'd to within an inch of their lives. I thinlk I'd prefer them out to do it though, as introducing water into the inside of a 21 year old Jag will only end up with more of this sort of thing...

Yes it decided to let go at the jacking point, which is annoying. No outward signs of what was inside either. Ah well it's nothing some plate and a welder won't fix.

It's being run as a bit of a bargey shed innit, as opposed to something to cherish and love, so yeah, get it cleaned up and plated up.
Your local grinder/welder wielder on good terms? Might be worth getting him to have a sniff about and see if he can see anything else that can be stopped in it's tracks before it gets to that stage again? Not restoration, just grind it back, clean it up, and slap some underseal on it to prevent it being a common occurrence, which I can tell you from painful experience, is no fun...

Finally fixed the damage on the side of the Jag. They weren't able to source a replacement panel in the end so simply repaired the front wing. I must say they've done a brilliant job, you couldn't tell anything had happened to it.

After:
Got chatting to the bloke who runs the place and he showed me round the workshop. They have some lovely old motors in various stages of full rebuilds including an old Range Rover and a ?1980s BMW 530. Turns out he's a fan of Harry's garage and is converting his barn to house his growing collection...

Finally got the car in for MOT after the delivery saga and then the MOT station being booked up for over a week. I was concerned that the ABS light would come up as it's been doing that a little lately (yes, since before I worked on the car - probably the ABS ring or a sensor, I've not had a chance to throw INPA against it yet) but left it to fate today.
ABS light came on straight after the guy had signed off the MOT and was driving it out of the bay

now that's the kind of luck I like.
So that'll be my little project over the next few weeks - ho hum.

Volvo collected, and promptly threw an EML
Got it back to my friends house, read codes, turbo underfoot, p0299. Odd code, no air leaks, boosts fine?
Took boost/map sensor out. It was a solid entity

.
I'm not sure how it run tbh! I guess I use full boost and they never did.
Cleaned it out and bobs your uncle, first car I've ever had thats done over 60 mpgees. Lovely torquey thing, so comfy, great stereo, and it's a lovely looking thing in red.
I'll service it properly if its not raining tommorow, and polish and ceramic coat it next week.
I love Volvos
Oh it needs a nsr door latch, ordered and to be fit!
It's like a brand new car otherwise.

I was playing with the radio in the MINI today, it has DAB, and that's still quite a novelty for me. I knew that Absolute Radio had 70's, 80's, 90's stations but hadn't previously notice they now have Absolute10s for the years 2010-2019.
I'm guessing "AbsoluteTeens" would have sounded super-sketchy

Absolute Tens is quite popular as background noise in the office.

Well this weekend was a bit of a shitter overall.
Saturday I went and had the 6 series all drained and new coolant added. I told the mechanic to do a better road test next time and use the red line a few times. But he’s a bit of a older boy and I think he’s genuinely too respectful
Came home and changed the cabin filter on the Tesla. Probably the shittest job I’ve done on a car yet.

On LHD cars there’s no pedals or steering rack in the way but still, removing 3 bits of trim, an air vent, hidden Allen screws and then wrestling 2 filters up through the steering column and pedals is a cunt. Also who the fuck put a high voltage cable over the bastard door.
Then I went to help my dad over the rest of the weekend expand his vegetable plot. I was merely operating the walk behind dumper. Final load and I’ve built up quite a platform of earth on the side of the hill. So there’s landslide and the dumper just goes off the edge of the hill, bouncing in dramatic fashion

Handlebars are broken but reasonable to replace, unfortunately however the tyres can no longer turn as they’re rubbing against the chassis due to the driveshafts being bent.

Annoyingly there’s no separate part number and it’s all listed as a single gearbox. Bollocks.
At this point we go out to get a takeaway pizza. However the X5 gets twatted from behind

Youngish BMW f30 driver seems to think that it will be quite cheap and he can settle it in cash. I mention in passing that 2 bumpers, his headlights and grills and bonnet and paint will probably be more expensive than what he’s thinking.
However hours later he’s visited a mate of a mate and he’s now going through insurance.

That filter looks fun! I've just ordered one and it looks pretty much the same as yours to replace. The previous owner of the car had a dog which the dealer did a good job of disguising with the strong air fresheners/cleaners they use but now that has worn off I occasionally get a wiff of dog. I've febreezed everything so the filter is the next thing to try.
If anyone has any other ideas, although I could just buy my own smelly dog.

Have you got a wet vac ? I got one recently and the filth that came out of the floor mats was quite disgusting.

Why are you changing the filter on the Tesla? That'll be a service item for the dealer to sort when it goes in as normal?

Standard. I've had that twice, both time's I just called my insurance anyway knowing full well that they'd not be paying cash.

There’s no service items on a Tesla - only recommended intervals which have no affect on warranty if you bother or not. The service centres are basically only for repairs. The car pops up with messages and guides on how to replace items yourself if you wish. It’s basically the same guides as this page.

What other car tells you to WD-40 the door handles

I haven't but I could probably get my hands on one.
