Watched that yesterday. I guess I'm going to have to do a trip to Morocco at some point

Friends of mine do a Morocco trip most years but it doesn't really appeal to me, a very interesting place but I just have no desire to do it.

What part doesn't interest you Barry?

Heat, sand, poor driving standards, corrupt officials, sand. I just have other places that are higher up my list of preferred destinations really. If I had more time and money I'd probably go to be fair.

What are the other destinations you'd prefer? Looking for ideas on what to do for my 40th birthday!

Morocco would work for me, as it'd be nice and warm (whilst freezing here)

Maybe Morocco is fun as a driving/biking destination but it’s the worst place I’ve ever visited. Can sum it up as dirty, crap food with much poisoning, poor - and god help you if you’re a white person walking through town with every twat harassing you to buy something or begging and having to negotiate for everything, because you’re a rich foreign person. That was 10 years ago, maybe it’s better now.

I like touring on tarmac so for me there's still lots of Euroland to explore, Italy (want to do Amalfi/Sicily etc), Spain, Croatia. I quite fancy a long trip in the US too. I don't work well in extreme heat so Africa doesn't really appeal as a biking holiday, I'd rather do a run to the Northern Lights tbh.

Wouldn't mind doing all of that as well, TBH 😂

Can't be too hot in Morocco in Jan/Feb though?

The other option is to do something like the Tuthill below zero ice experience thing + northern lights. I've still got a while yet to decide anyway 😄

One of my touring crew turned 50 last month so he's keen to do something decent next year, although he's been useless of late so I'm not hopeful. Job might be changing around again in the new year too so I want to see how that pans out before I can decide when I'm best taking time off.

A guy I work with is going to Norway on his bike (riding up to the north on his own then back down with his gf). JL, you’ve done a trip recently non? Any good tips?

Yes mate that was me. Tbh he can't go wrong just touring around the fjords and national parks and stuff, the country is just ridiculously nice.

https://www.visitnorway.com/plan-your- ... c-routes/ Point him towards this site, I basically just linked up the ones that suited where I was. Dead easy.

Might be worth skimming through TMFs series on his mini tour up to the circle, for roads and towns if nothing else

If he's visiting the North, then Lofoten is a must. I was going to miss it, but quite a few Norwegians told me to spend time there, so I went out of my way and I'm glad I did. Wish I actually spent longer there.

One Norwegian lady told me that you haven't truly seen Norway, unless you've been to Lofoten!

Other than that, what JL said about the Fjords.

Hotels and restaurants are rather expensive. If he's open minded to camping, then they're priced no more than the rest of Europe (tenner a night).

Motorcycles don't have to pay on their toll road system, which is a bonus.

Also in the North it can snow in June, as I found out 😆

I adore the shape of them and built model 916's when they were new, I'd buy one but the tales of parts prices puts me off.

Nice but it's the slower yellow colour. :)
