I got 4 mins in.. utterly despicable, completely out of their depth, and absolute garbage spouted by Trump and Vance. Thoroughly depressing viewing

I've not seen anyone other than paid cultists defending this.

I don't think Trump and Vance realise just how much they've pissed everyone off with this (literally, like a ten year old) childish behaviour.

Even the usual unpaid trolls that I see in my social media circles aren't piping up to carry water for this absolute horror show.

Tremendous

Just read that following that exchange the Ukraine delegation was told to leave the White House, no deals were signed and a planned news conference was cancelled, and every non Russian sympathetic European country has sent messages of support to Zelensky. So barring Hungary he’s just pissed off the entire of Europe

Congressional Republicans on Friday were nearly unanimous in their praise of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance after they and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a fiery exchange before live cameras in the Oval Office.

This includes formerly normal republicans. I worry for what regular Americans now think.

Oh well, sounds like no-one will need to shed a tear when someone goes on a rampage at the next republican conference. I'd guess many of them know if they step out of line, they'd be under the Trump teams eye, and they're politicians, so actual morals aren't something they're naturally used to flexing.

I don't think they realise that ruling by trolling won't do them much good when, you know, almost their entire base fucking hate them.

The whole thing with Trump and his administration demanding mineral resources from Ukraine, while the country is in an active war is fucking vulgar.

Pretty much exploiting them in a time of need.

I imagine once the war does eventually stop, it's going to take Ukraine a long, long time to recover and will be crippled for years... Why not give them some time after the conflict to recover and rebuild? Then talk about paying back things in money or resources?

I guess that's considered being too soft, politically!

It was obviously deeply unseemly and cringe worthy to watch, but does it really matter?

There was and has never been a realistic plan for the US to "save" Ukraine. They were never going to put US troops on the ground and they were never going to force Putin to withdraw. So all that is left is a minerals deal, which appears to mostly be payback for past "debts", and the *possibility* of the weapons and ammo supply continuing. But where does that leave Ukraine? Either effectively paying a super-inflated price for just enough guns to drag this out for another 9-12 months, or paying for the privilege of giving Putin a much-needed pause to rearm and have a proper pop at Kyiv.

At least the rest of the world knows exactly what vile pieces of shit they’re dealing with now. There wasn’t ever much doubt, but this thoroughly confirms it.

Oh, hey, reportedly Reuters and AP weren't invited to the press event, but TASS were.

You know, the Russian state owned and run news agency that has been banned by every other Western country.

US Press Sec: oh woopsy, we don't know how that happened!

Yeah, there a lot of bowing down to King Trump like he can snap his fingers and decide the fate of the world, after all, his whole campaign was based around him stating he could. was he really offering anything more than “Buy some more american weapons to carry on fighting or surrender everything to Putin”.

I wonder how much damage all these failures are doing to his status?

The sheer fucking irony of Trump and Vance repeatedly talking about diplomacy when they have also threatened to annex/invade other countries is truly mind bending stuff. I just can't comprehend it.

Fair play to Zelensky for correcting the shameful, blatant lies, but I'm not sure yet if this will work in his favour or not. I don't think this needed to happen in full view of the entire world media, but it also showed he's having to deal with deluded, crazed, mafia types who are clearly working in the interests of the Russians.

BBC is pissing me off - on News At 10 last night, and again on the BBC News channel they have described the meeting as descending into a shouting match. There were two raised voices in the room, but they were both on the US side. Wankers.

If we are still labouring under the illusion that the Trump mob give two fucks what the american electorate think, this can't play well for them. There is overwhelming support support for Ukraine generally and if there's one thing right wing americans hate, it's Russia.

I also had the misfortune of watching Fox news for a couple of hours the other night - it is telling that their stance on Ukraine is.....silence. Avoid the topic. Report after report on how Trump *cleverly* shouted down various Democrat senators. Lots of stuff on trans rights. Lots of stuff on just how much fraud Elon is discovering. But anything relating to the outside world....nada. Sort of implies that they see it as a sticky wicket.

No words for what I watched yesterday evening. Like a really, really bad movie.

I can’t help thinking that Macron very elegantly making him look like a twat the other day (which was wonderful) left him smarting so he decided he needed to puff himself up again by bullying Zelenskyy in front of the world.
