Re: Your fleet running reports
I think the appeal is that it's pretty much peak hydro-pneumatic suspension from those great days of PSA. I always fancied one of these myself, but somehow they ended up falling off my radar.

Yeah its the fact my dad had one when I was little combined with the awesomeness of the active suspension that makes it for me.
Can't wait to pick it up and waste a load of money on painting it

Yeah a amazing record, especially when you think how tyre technology has progressed!
Re: Your fleet running reports
I do have a French itch that needs to be scratched lol
I've never owned one but bought my sister a Renault 11 GTX when she was in Uni around 2000. I bought it on the basis of it having 12 months T&T and drove well for £400 and hopefully last a year. It ended up seeing her 4 years with just service stuff and ended up being part exchanged against a new fiesta for £500.

Clio Williams for me please.
Also I like the idea of owning a Renault 19 16V

Re: Your fleet running reports
my 2nd car was a ph1 R19 16v.

It was a decent car - I bought it for £1k, someone drove into the rear qtr and it was written off and I got £950 payout, I bought it back from them for £50 then sold it unrepaired for £400! Shame really, it would have lasted for years more.

All this talk of Activas got me browsing as to what old french tat is out there at the moment. There's a Pug 605 SVE 24v V6 for sale on AT - no pics as yet. Sounds like a cracker of a find though for someone out there. Click
2 keepers from new (same family) and just 36,000mi. I would love that.

To be fair, there’s something odd about the moose test methodology when second place is a Nissan Qashqai, beating an Audi R8 into third:jamcg wrote: Tue Mar 23, 2021 9:08 pm They still hold the record for the fastest moose test- from 1999 nothings gone quicker

I'm glad the Activa came along, as I was being tempted by this, looks like it's been sold now anyway!

All this Citroen love is making we think we should have kept hold of my wife's granddad's Burgundy 03 plate C5 auto V6 Executive. Needed a fair bit of work having sat for a few years (and at the end he wasn't a very good driver so had a few scuffs), but it went for scrap.

If I had a grand and a driveway, that'd be a more interesting (in a number of ways, not all positive16vCento wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 8:12 am I'm glad the Activa came along, as I was being tempted by this, looks like it's been sold now anyway!

Re: Your fleet running reports
The X-Trail of that era was based on the Qashqai+2 and therefore its basically a LWB 4wd Qashqai. My wife had one and ride was shite, tall but stiff. Nissan must have accidently engineered handling characteristics that lend itself to that testmik wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 8:25 amIndeed! and they have to have the car full - so 4/5 peoples weight too. What a load of bullshit.Carlos wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:36 amThe X-Trail of that era was based on the Qashqai+2 and therefore its basically a LWB 4wd Qashqai. Re: Your fleet running reports
It is a safety test not a handling test
I guess sporty cars with less aggressive traction control/ESP might not fare so well as ones that are designed to be family wagons.

All the French love has reminded me of this Furious Driving video
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.
Re: Your fleet running reports
I didn't realise until recently that they also had the hydropneumatic suspension. They must have a strong following as the nice V6 cars still seem to be up to £10kDeskJockey wrote: Wed Mar 24, 2021 8:33 am All this Citroen love is making we think we should have kept hold of my wife's granddad's Burgundy 03 plate C5 auto V6 Executive.
