I quite like that one too. How much less of a car is the normal S6? A friend of a friend reckoned they were 90% of the capability of the RS6 at a fraction of the running cost, but I've never driven one.

Did they say 'capability' or 'reliability'? I don't think even a tuned RS6 is all that impressive nowadays; it never delivers the figures its power output suggests, so an S6 won't be too exciting. Definitely worth going for the newer shape S6 instead, IMO; that's quicker out of the box, more economical, much more modern inside and the wick can be turned up fairly easily if that's your bag because it has a turbo.

@tim had a V10 S6 at one point didn't he?
Looks bogging in that colour imo.

He did. Seem to remember that he spent £25k in fuel in a year or so?

I saw a 20v coupe on the motorway last week. They really haven’t aged well.

I'm a weirdo Volvo fan and even I'll admit that 400 series ones are supremely dull

Dull - yes. But dull can be great- if you use a weird scale of greatness...

The 480 was launched a good few years before the 440. So I’d say the dull ones were based on the interesting coupe.

Ah, I didn’t know the 480 came out first. I thought they all came out at the same time

Yeah, the 480 was shown for quite a long time before it actually went on sale but deliveries still began about 18 months before the 440.

Hubba, hubba, and thrice hubba!
So reminds me of the GT5S that used to prowl the West End of Glasgow when I was at uni. The sound was
immense.
