Porsche nearly done, saw it today and it’s awesome, the aluminium subframes all been vapour blasted, all new arms and everything undersealed properly and all the steel components powdercoated, including the ARB’s.

I bet it was well worth it.

Bought some gt3 brake ducts this week for a massive 15 pounds delivered. Apparently they actually work, we will see as my trackday on the 30th of march looks like it just escaped being BANNED

Any recommendations for online tyre places? Just checked Blackcircles and the Michelins I want have gone up from £82ish to £126ish per tyre (fully fitted).

Before someone suggests another tyre, I've got very nearly new ones on two wheels already, so want a matched set.

I’ve pretty much exclusively used Camskill for the last 12+ years. Local specialist tyre place is happy to do fit only.

Pneus were my go to...but Brexit put a stop to that - so Camskill were usually next cheapest.

I had to do a quick run out to get some M8 studs for my Turbo elbow on the Defender so took the wife’s TT.

The nut and bolt place I use shut early.

Then on the busiest round about in Peterborough this happened....



Luckily it clutchless changes really smoothly and the battery is good so it starts up in 1st quick enough for a fast getaway

Hopefully Audi have one in stock as I’m away on Wednesday.

That suddenly brings back memories - one of the pedals went on the wife's A3 years ago, I can't remember the details, but I remember getting it all back together was an absolute fucker as one bit was spring loaded. I'm sure it was the same thing that had broken.

Yeah, I found a photo of how I had to compress the spring with zip ties to get it back in position, then cut the zip ties after. I think the main issue was access - the actual instructions looked fairly simple in isolation! I expect you'll do better as a decent mechanic!!!

And that is why these things need to be practiced.

John Q Citizen would have blocked the traffic until the car could be manhandled out of the way, and then a recovery truck would have been required.

How many drivers do you think would have had the knowledge and ability to do that? One in a thousand? One in ten thousand? Regardless - top darts.

They would be clutching at straws trying to figure out how to get it to drive.

The Redex (ADVANCED TM) I put in the tank last weekend appears to have made all the difference to the way the Merc runs this weekend, despite no difference last weekend

My kind of repair, the HT leads I've bought can go back for refund Burned off a Corsa at the lights to celebrate

Still got to sort the mystery water leak under the drivers seat but then the car is pretty much as I want it

Yep exactly the same fault.

The pedal is being welded today and then I’ll pop it in tomorrow I hope.

I think I can do it properly without Pre-compressing the spring so expect to be wearing an eye patch tomorrow . Then mumbling about stupid Audi cars while I put cable ties on.

if you could cut the a huge hole in the bulkhead for access, I bet it would be simple!

Have a mini issue. Engine light on and stuttering, wont rev. Internet says spark plugs, coils or fuel pump. The low fuel warning light did come on shortly before, 60 miles left in the tank but it suggests its related. Put 5 litres of sul in from a can, still doing it so off to the tuna (cheap garage) to see what they say.

mytyres.co.uk is what I usually end up using including fitting locally. Blackcircles is also my other go to.
