Let's not get into a heated debate about that. I meant that what Foz said wasn't a joke.

If your knowledge/available time doesn't extend to checking it yourself, book it into a garage. If you're using loads more fuel it won't take long to offset the cost of an hour at an Indy.

There used to be the diagnostic stuff to give you various temp readings through the AC on my TT, what age scirocco is it?

At 82 degrees the gauge was saying 90.

Clever little widget this is.

2012, I'll borrow my dad's code reader and see if it shows anything, I only go into the college on a Friday at the moment so I'll get it booked in.

Scimitar passed its MOT. That was quite a surprise.

It’s done 39 miles since its last one...... in 2011

My Dad is absolutely in love with the car. The clutch is a bit juddery so he’s treating it to a new clutch, and a gearbox rebuild “while we’re there”. It’s never going to be full concours but it’ll end up at the very top end of “being able to use it without being terrified of getting it dirty”

Exactly what I wanted with my sud. Nice and tidy and mechanically spot on, but not so nice you’re scared to use it regularly.

Agreed. That’s the best place to be with a classic IMO.

Boxster is dry inside having lived under a car cover for a week. I think there is ingress around the driver’s door, quite possibly from the roof closing unevenly and the door seal not being flush.

I have a distant recollection that this has something to do with tapes and things in the roof.

Perhaps because it has dried out inside, the roof is now happy to open again. Although this has come at the cost of the Pioneer ICE unit refusing to start up. I’ve checked the fuses etc with no joy, however it has done this once before then settled down having been switched off for a while, so this is the strategy I have adopted.

Also the clutch is not all it once was, leading me to wonder how much a new one will be.

Long gone, he didn’t bond with it so sold it and bought a Bristol 410 instead:

Although he seems to have completely forgotten about the Bristol since I left the Scimitar with him for safekeeping over the winter.

I’m not a Bristol fan. But that one looks very appealing.

You did say he’s a Scimitar fan so what are the chances of him selling the Bristol and holding onto yours?

I guide mine in with my fingers (oo eerrr). Theres some elastic you can move up a notch apparently. I bought some new elastic just in case off amazon - its an easy fix but I haven't got round to it.

Bought some GT3 brake ducts (15.00 delivered) as hoping my trackday isnt cancelled again (end of next month).

I do that too - but the leak persists. I just think guiding it in with your fingers is always going to be associated with a moist carpet. I’ll give Northway a call next week.

That is bloody lovely. Always had a big spot for Bristols (I’d love a pair of Bristols etc) and was very saddened when the company went under.

I take it youve cleaned all the drain holes recently?

My 996 never liked being parked up, the shift cables and clutch seemed to stiffen up if left for more than a few days. A good run and all was well though.
