People calling for a general election. I mean, seriously. How the hell does that help in any way at all when we have less than two weeks to the 29th. If the government declared an election now they'd have no political mandate to go to Brussels to ask for an extension and/or time to negotiate one amidst preparing for an election even if they took they view they should. We would then leave with no deal by default.

I have quite the opposite view of Grieve as a result of this. What he said was correct and he said it before the AG said "Bollocks" let alone before the AG published his legal advice. That's despite the politically sensitive nature of the changes.

Yep general election is crazy talk, no matter what the outcome there'd be even more mess than we have now. Lib Dem majority would be the only way it could establish a clear position

When tonight's vote fails I hope Labour finally call for a people's vote.... Though I wouldn't put it past the general public to go for a no-deal Brexit.

The whole thing, you would think, was meant to end up like this unmitigated disaster. 2 years to plan for the worst case 'no deal' - now, is it true that we would have an issue?
