I genuinely hope he has an extremely painful injury. He is a nasty nasty man and just creates conflict and anger.
Dave!

I was walking to a site in Reading today - they had a weird jumble of slightly dropped cycle paths crossing the pavements - I didn't have a clue which way to look or where I was supposed to be walking/not walking.
Trying to jam cycle paths into old towns as an afterthought is dumb imo.

I've yet to find a layout that's confusing so I'd be interested to see what that looks like.

By Forbury sq, basically there were cyclists coming from the right but wanting to end up at the bottom of the picture, but no idea if the guy walking has right of way or not, then the cyclists coming from the left are coming round the corner with a view blocked by plants and wall of the pedestrians coming from the bottom. Then there's a bollard in one lane of the cycle path from the bottom.
It made even less sense in real life with 4 more years of plants and even more worn markings.

I've just had a look on Google and yep, that's a bit of a shit layout. Guidance is actually pretty good these days (since 2020) - it was a bit of a free for all before that, and that is a prime example. There's no markings to clarify priority, the surfacing is a right jumble, and then there's stupid stuff like the bollard at the end of the cycle lane.

Segregation is the way to go.
Christ, that seems a bit extreme.
Oh, for cycle lanes.

A Whytes only lane?

Oops. That could have resulted in a significantly nastier outcome.
#47 just jumps up and heads off again after riding over the top of her rival - no need to check - I'm sure she's fine

That is appalling. For a team car to hit a competing rider due to inattention is unforgivable - sanctions ought to apply, something like excluding the team for a couple of races due to the severity of it.

Very lucky for that to not be a lot worse!

Sounds reasonable. They should surely also have a rule that anyone driving close to
any of the competitors is focussed on driving only : if you need to engage in tactical conversation with a competitor you should be a passenger.

The driver should be in fucking jail, frankly. That was absurdly dangerous and it's only dumb luck that the rider didn't end up under the car and minced.

It appears the car was the Race Director as opposed to a team car

Eyes fully on the competitor he was speaking to throughout the incident, one hand on the wheel and the other for gesticulating....
The girl who was talking to him won the race, and the girl who was hit by his car came second. Whilst both those results are quite astonishing, it doesn't seem very fair....

First 10secs are the video operator zooming in and finding the right view....
Cyclist, oncoming car, and pedestrians all extremely lucky here. Car doesn't show any brake lights until after it hits the first bollard....

"Footage of the last night crashed the laughing gas driver in three colts Lane, Bethnal green."
I'm assuming they're saying the driver was doing laughing gas whilst driving?
That's a pretty sure fire way to make you crash! It's a pretty instant but short lasting high (and not an "enhancing reactions" type high!)
