Gutted that's so sudden out of the blue, really sad

Thought I’d save some money and cut tobys fur myself. Managed to take a chunk out of the fluffy ones back leg, so he’s been to the vets to get knocked out and stitched up earlier today- he’s ridiculously flexible though so needs a hilariously huge cone so he can’t get at his leg- and this time it is genuinely a cone of shame- not his but my shame for idiotically cutting him
Anyway my cost cutting exercise has reduced his grooming cost to a mere £420 vet bill and a half finished cut because we were both too traumatised to finish it nicely

You should wear a cone for as long as Toby has to.

I did that with our cat, she was barely bleeding though so used a bit of superglue

Annoyingly, she didn’t even register that I’d cut her.

I saw a post by someone a while back - that whilst out on a walk one day, their dog had found a random half-eaten scotch pie in a bush. Said pie was hurriedly consumed before the owner could intervene. Happy dog. On every subsequent walk in that location however, the dog would rush frantically to the magic scotch pie bush and excitedly snoofle around. No successful result was ever achieved again, but next walk..... same routine.... which literally went on for years.

I was reminded of this by our older rescue dog. Someone has given her a bit of toast that was clearly still too warm, and she is now extremely cautious around accepting toast. Which is a PITA as they always get a slice each at (human) lunchtime. Even when it has cooled completely - she'll reluctantly take it from my hand, and carry it away to her crate - where she will hold between her front paws and stare at it - for evah - which really winds up our younger German Shepherd (who finished hers in 1.02 seconds). Have tried giving her a slice of bread instead - she treats it exactly the same

So I am now left - probably "forever" - hand-feeding a slice of bread/toast to the older dog every lunchtime. She always rejects the first couple of morsels, before very cautiously eating the third or fourth bit. Once she's past the first scrap she'll eat the rest - but only if I tear off a bite-sized bit at a time. Sigh.
