Rambo - Last Blood

I like SS and was looking forward to this. There was a polite nod towards a plot and then Rambo just kills everyone with extreme prejudice. No surprises there. They should probably have tortured Rambo a bit more before letting him off the leash. It felt a little hurried and the OTT murdering reminded me of John Wick 3 but it's much less shit.

Really underlined the need for a proper border wall in the states as well. Those Mexicans are well dodgy. #MAGA

Had originally planned to see JoJo Rabbit this afternoon but it was a bit grey to head out. Instead caught up one of Taika Waititi's earlier films, Hunt for the Wildepeople which has been on my to-watch list for years. Excellent film in so many ways, the Mrs and I were absorbed by it, absolutely recommended.

What’s amazing is that Netflix have given him $275m to make another 4 films.

You can’t put a price on greatness, but if you did it would be $275m for 4 films ;)

That did get great reviews across the board tbf. Many citing Sandlers performance in particular.

I think Sandler is brilliant in it and that’s coming from someone who is well aware that 99% of his output since Punch Drunk Love has been utter horse shit. Uncut Gems goes at 100 mph from the start to the end and ratchets up the (nervous & excitable) tension to incredible levels.

I quite enjoyed Ad Astra too and Joker was amazing.

I did, I thought it was really good at the time, but I can’t remember any of it other than the worlds glidiest Spitfire now. I’ll have to watch it again.
Was going to ask how it compared to 1917, as I thought Dunkirk was great
I think Dunkirk was better. But 1917 is still very good and you should definitely watch it.
I watched this the other night. Very good in many ways.... a little bit unexciting but the way its shot makes up for that part. Deffo worth seeing just for the experience.

Really enjoyed Uncut Gems. One of Adam Sandler’s once a decade good movies.

Uncut Gems was bold, brave and impressive but I wouldn't say I enjoyed it or would ever want to see it again.

Joker was better than I expected and I expected quite a lot given the hype. Brilliant really.

Hobbs & Shaw was pretty good if you like the Fast & Furious movies.

I can’t think of many other decent action movies last year.

Polar was pretty cheesy but Mads Mikkelson was good in it.

+1 for Terminator six, after a brief Marvelesque fight scene between the superpowered protagonists it gets back to grittier action which I really enjoyed.

Finally saw Star Wars IX and did quite enjoy it, didn't have massive expectations, there was one moment that made me sit up an think they were going to go some interesting places before everyone donned their plot armour again and it worked its way to a decidedly obvious conclusion. Good, but not great and could've done with about 20min less of Maguffin hunting and the Empire's First Last and Only Order being stupid.
