Watched the first half of episode 4 last night

This series just goes to illustrate how good TG with MLB and CH is. Pity that's just got one series left.

I don't get the hate for TGT. Sure, the material in the 2-parter was spread a little thin, but I really liked the pick-up episode. Then again, I'm a man of simple tastes...

Hammond denying he'd dyed his hair was painful.

His rant about his wife fucking his horse was good though.

I thought the Jim Clark piece was really good, but the rest was very, very formulaic and a bit of a wasted opportunity, especially the Lambo piece.

The horse rant was bang on the nose though.

The new Top Gear trailer looks good though.....

I've enjoyed all of it, and especially the Jim Clark piece on the latest one.

It’s real, I remember seeing a documentary about it years ago.

Just finished watching the latest episode - that section on Jim Clark was fantastic. They're far and away the best at those mini-documentary pieces - the recent Lancia rallying one by Clarkson was also excellent.

I enjoyed the Lancia one (assuming it's the 037 one) but it was very biased as it didn't mention Mikkola winning the driver's championship in 1983, or coming from 145th on the 1000 Lakes to win. I'm also not sure if it was the 037 that was the subject of the infamous half-before-lunch-and-half-after folklore, but could be wrong. Also I have a feeling he said it was 400 to homologate in Group B, rather than 200 as it actually was.

So fuck Clarkson because he annoys me.

It didn't mention Mikkola winning but it was clear that Walter Rohrl didn't win as Lancia pulled out of the final races once they'd won the constructor's title. Not sure about the other bits - I take your point that they primarily for entertainment value rather than rigourously factual pieces.

It might be worth mentioning at this point that Mikkola was my childhood hero, the Quattro was my favourite car and the 1983 WRC was my favourite thing pretty much ever. That might shed some light on my previous post

I've heard that story about the RS200, the 6R4 and now the 037. It's a nefarious as the Delta S4 Estoril story.

Totally agree mate. In fact I've heard it in connection to the S4 as well! I never really did buy FISA not being a bit more diligent with the cornerstone of the category's homologation requirements.

A mixed bag this week. Electric car is fast but dull, some of the limo stuff was good, Hammond's death looked real enough.

I must say there was more than a whiff of bullshit about that electric car. “More downforce than an F1 car” yet a few seconds slower than a Senna - something doesn’t add up there.

Whilst the China bit was interesting it was a missed opportunity for having an actual decent road trip. What idiot thought those traffic cameras were a good idea
