MrsREV and I wanted #2 to be a girl so that we could have one of each. When we had the scan, she was pretty upset that he was another boy, and then she was upset about being upset about it being a boy, then she was fine. Now that our boys are 14 and 8, we're really glad we didn't have a girl.

11 days. It took 11 days for JL to start posting random pics of his baby despite everything he said
Keep ‘em coming, JL. He’s a little smasher.

Great looking boy JL, he looks like he's fist pumping!
Genuine question (And to all the other dads here). When you knew your lady was expecting, did she already know the sex at that point? Because if she didn't, did you ever admit to yourself that you'd prefer a girl or boy?
I think this is the bit that's scaring me the most - the thought that I might actually have a preference, but then discovering that we'd have the other flavour... I don't want to admit to myself that I (or the O/H) actually have a preference. Is that normal?
After our first was a wee girl when we were expecting the second I swayed between hoping for boy one day, girl the next. I do have one of each and they have pros and cons. Boys are easier to buy toys for and you can watch super hero films etc and pretend it is for them but I wouldn't swap or change either of them. (possibly will change my mind when they hot their teens shortly)
In short, you won't love one more than the other, you won't wish you had the opposite and they will make your life so much better!

That way, his nursery was painted Blue in readiness,
How did you know he was going to like blue?

Unluckily guess - as soon as he could express a preference, he wanted Red...

That picture reminded me of our first midwife visit at home. The wife was just waking up and I was singing rappers delight to Maxwell as he had just woken a bit grumpy.
I open the door, the midwife (who was excellent) looked at me and smiled, then looked at Maxwell with his woolly hat and pulled it off him.
She said......
“Baby will tell you when their cold, he doesn’t need a woolly hat unless you want to create a wimp”
I miss that lady
Maybe by co-incidence but both my boys are great in the cold and don’t wimp out like most of their friends.
We wanted 2 happy children, we are glad we have boys as everyone we know with daughters have said their boys are easier. If we had 2 daughters instead I’d still be incredibly happy but feel like I’ll have an easier time with boys.

We didn't care either way, and didn't know the gender until they arrived. That the two first were boys helped us decide on having a third.

The sex is irrelevant, you’ll love your child irrespectively.
