That final shows why England never win these tournaments. Both Argentina and France had real tenacity and resilience which meant they stepped up and fought harder when it mattered.

That was a brilliant match, probably the best ever final I’ve seen and Messi has done it, so its one of those perfect endings I guess.

I loved all of this tournament. Absolutely perfect for winter with minimal impact on domestic football.

I have only a slight passing interest. Started watching it about 70min and thought Argentina would coast to a 2-0 win...then watched in amazement as France/Mbappe pulled it back to equal within the course of a few minutes. Was actually an enjoyable match to watch!

Great to see Messi and Argentina pull it together for this one, it looked from previous world cups like it might never happen for Messi.
