This popped up on my YouTube feed.

New world marathon record for running in Crocs. Running 26.2 miles in less than three hours in Crocs. Because he could.

I watched that yesterday! Firstly it’s an amazing run to casually do sub-3 hour for a laugh. Secondly he is utterly mental for not having trained further than 10miles in the Crocs 😂

Quite. Given how competitively he used to run, I guess he's got the fitness level to do silly things like that.

And all this without putting them in sport mode. Truly mental

Edit- actually they are. But still fucking mental

Nice. I've started doing our local one again with my 8 year old boy. I last did it when I was pushing his older sister around in a running buggy.

My local MP turns up to parkrun in running gear, says "it's a lovely day for it" and buggers off home running maybe half a lap.

The girlfriend does parkrun and is currently doing a marathon every 3 weeks. Add to that her questionable taste in me and I'm half way to getting her sectioned!

Yup, the middle one and me are frequent users of our junior park run. Got a fair few kids from our school going, so it works socially too.

My daughter did the Junior one a few times before losing interest. My son's gone straight to 5k

Ours turned up on a Brompton, did a fucking annoyingly fast time, waved a bit then went home.

He’s getting some pace as well. PB so far is 30m45. I reckoned a month or so ago that he’ll be under 30 mins by the end of this year. I think I’ll revise that to some time over summer. Amazing given he’s the shortest in his class at 4’, running next to me who is 6’3!.

In the nicest possible way, your lad is a twat and annoys “used to be fit” people like me 😂

When you get overtaken by someone who earns pocket money and knows about Pokémon, it’s quite emasculating 😂

Dave!

Tbh you never get away from it unless you're an elite runner 😂 I did some inter-club races over the winter and would get overtaken by kids or teenagers despite me having a ~19 minute 5k time back then 😭

 yep, and soon enough he'll be quicker than me. One way to get my fitness back up at least!

A friend's 8yo (not very tall, very fast, runs the junior in about 9 mins) told his dad that if he didn't pick up his pace he didn't want to run with him anymore as he was too slow.

Well done to him! We shaved another nine seconds off the Junior Park Run time today.
