Likely wheel bearing away in the S60. Happily appears to be a fraction of the cost of the previous gen V70 bearings which is nice. Have it booked in to see if putting through another MOT s wort it. I rather hope it is.

Been a ball ache finding tyres for the 6 series as the Michelin factory is backlogged due to not being at full production. My tyre fitter called them up and they managed to find 4 fronts in a warehouse in Germany and 2 rears in a warehouse back here which are now on their way here.

Standard practice when you own a car without a spare wheel to keep a spare in the garage, isn’t it?

The garage I use work with one of those companies which sell space saver tyre kits complete with everything needed to change it for people who want peace of mind. I won’t bother for now but it’s tempting if abroad as it is the type of thing that can otherwise ruin a holiday, especially if you have a car which has a pretty rare tyre size which makes finding them a pain.

That’s the thing isn’t it. The more sensible thing to do would just be to buy a full size wheel with tyre off eBay for much less and chuck a tiny bottle jack in

Yes, it would be - that’s what I always did with BMWs.
Having a temporary spare still makes it urgent to find a replacement.

Going back to my comment about modern wheel/tyre sizes - you've got the issue that a full size spare can now be an 18-20" rim The VXR8 used to have a full-size 19" wheel in the boot, lifting that out of the wheel well was no easy feat! Nearly slipped a disc doing that! Pretty big lip to pull that barsteward over.
Disco3 and 4 had a full sized spare slung underneath, but with a (hand driven) winch system to drop and raise it. And they needed it. A 20” wheel capable of supporting a 2.3tonne car, with a tyre to suit is HEAVIES.
