No F1 thread?
Re: No F1 thread?
I don't really get the Ocon hate, he's shown to be pretty fast at times and is a pretty fierce racer. Plus I like to see drivers in there who don't come from money. I like to believe that it's possible to get to F1 without a rich daddy still.
Re: No F1 thread?
You're right - you do kind of need a baddie to “hate” (it’s obviously not actual hate) if you’re cheering on someone else.
When Vettel is doing well (not always about winning, when he was in an improving car too) he comes across as a calm, likeable, even modest guy. It’s just he turns into a spoilt child when his own fuck ups ruin it for himself.

Apart from when he was at Red Bull with the blown diffuser I don't ever remember being impressed by Vettel. On the day, in the same car, I'd put my money on Ricciardo every time. Possibly even Bottas.
Re: No F1 thread?
Ocon is a funny one, his story is the type that should have fans flocking but I just cannot take to him at all.
Russel would surely benefit from a move up the grid in the next season or so though, he is clearly a talent and it would be a shame to see him languish at Williams. (or better, Williams do a Brawn in 2022)

Re: No F1 thread?
I feel sorry for Russell, no one with an ounce of talent deserves to spend 3 years at the worst team.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: No F1 thread?
Russell's talent behind the wheel certainly deserves a better opportunity* Faster than Leclerc in Q1 of the Styrian GP, only a whisker slower in Q3.
*though it would be better all-round, if Williams weren't languishing at the back of the grid.
Seems a waste of a potential, when you have people like Alonso and Raikkonen hanging on, as well as wasters like Stroll and Grosjean.

So much this. Even in a Haas (won’t happen it’s a Ferrari) he’d be better off.

Agree about Russell, it's a shame he's only gone up against unknown quantities too... AFAIK he's royally routed everybody like for like so far, so would be good to see him against someone we know is competitive.
Re: No F1 thread?
Staying loosely on the F1 theme, has anyone else noticed how lovely Claire Williams eyes are? The fact that she is wearing a mask now just draws more attention to them. I'll get me coat...
Re: No F1 thread?
Fair point. Be careful out there guys, some women can look far more attractive than they actually are with the mask on.

Reposted, from Silverstone last year, for PaulJ's benefit (not that this is necessarily the best photo ever of her eyes)

Have you tried this new site called google?

Eyes with mask I guess - then again that’s just a gimp mask isn’t it

I noticed that too. Speaking of face coverings someone has give Toto Wolff an Arnold Schwarzenegger one, one of the first comments on the photo was Toto Recall
