Aren't yank auto boxes pretty simple and therefore cheap to rebuild ?
There’s a bloke in the UK that will do a full rebuild of a 700R4 box for £850, apparently. A T-56 6 speed manual is about double that.
I have a T-56 in the Spazda and tbh I wouldn't bother with one, they are heavy, expensive and shift like a gearbox on a steam train, if steam trains had gearboxes. The cool kids fit a CD009 from a 350Z/370Z using a Collins adapter. I think LS and SBC share the same bellhousing pattern so you could just go manual on the engine you already have, and ls it later.

Yeah, but all the parts to put a T56 into a Camaro exist off the shelf for pennies and already fit the LS without an adaptor.

True, the T-56 is the path of least resistance, buying one is beaucoup dollar but then you save time and money on ease of fitting it.

Your hashtags are cringeworthy

Has the box ever been rebuilt? Any history at all on it? That might point to something...

Hashtags get people who know about Camaros replying. That’s what they’re for.

I’ve got a new gasket, filter and 12 litres of ATF on order. When they arrive, I’ll do the needful and see if it works.

I now have a working windscreen washer! £4 for the pump plus £7 p&p from the US. I haven’t fixed the gearbox, yet, but you have to celebrate the small victories. Oh, and I fitted Bosch Aerowipers too, which were £8

Ha. Take the small wins. I've just got the Mazda driving right with Jobbos Bilstein's and now I have to change the bloody PAS belt (again) as well as new rear drop links. Next week there will undoubtedly be more shit to do. 😂

I'm glad about that, since I enjoyed the flat iron steak last night. Steaks, in fact, since I ate both myself
