Bye Bye Boris!
Re: Bye Bye Boris!
The irony of wanting to be more independent, especially following coronavirus but now fucking over our own agriculture. Disgraceful really.
How about not having a sig at all?

“Ministers are reportedly considering letting in products like chlorinated chicken and hormone-fed beef into British supermarkets, ”
What does “reportedly considering” actually mean in this situation?

Aye, it’s the equivalent of selling a car for £1k but saying you’d take £500 for it. How's the labelling proposed to work? I keep reading about them not permitting origin labelling, but is that to apply also to UK sourced meat?

according to what some say (used to express the speaker's belief that the information given is not necessarily true).”
“Considering:
taking into consideration.”
Sounds just vague enough to be a paper making up news for a quiet day without enough conviction to actually be pulled up on it!
We all know it will be talked about in discussions, it’s not like the US is just going to never mention it again, regardless of whether we have any intention of doing it or not!
Re: Bye Bye Boris!
The US have basically said it’s not negotiable.
That quote about using food safety as a ruse to protect British farmers is a belter.

It's always been a key tenet of US trade negotiations so it was never going to go away.

Do you have any opinion on us letting food into our supply chain that doesn’t meet our safety standards?

I’ve no doubt there’ll end up being some truth to it, but that article just read as opinion at this stage - there was no actual reporting of any new facts in it was there?
