What is your resting heart rate?
Re: What is your resting heart rate?
I’m not going to attempt to take it now, I had a couple of days gap in my anxiety meds cause I forgot to sort a new script so my heart feels like it’s trying to escape just now
An absolute unit

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
Between 58-62.
Anything sub 60 is good, between 60-80 is normal iirc?

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
I didn't think it was much of an indicator of health ?
I'm 22stone and it's 60.

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
My understanding is that it is an indicator or health but like BMI needs to be viewed very carefully.

It’s useful to keep track of it as you notice any changes. I’ve said it before but my Apple Watch saved my life as the first indication that something was wrong with my health was my resting heart rate increased from 40 to 60. My Doctor dismissed it as 60 is in the normal range and there was nothing on my ECG but I pressed the issue and he sent me to a cardiologist which eventually did further investigations because of my graphs.Swervin_Mervin wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:41 pm My understanding is that it is an indicator or health but like BMI needs to be viewed very carefully.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: What is your resting heart rate?
Low 50s is my usual rate, beer and a gutful of junk food after movie night has pushed it up to 70.
Re: What is your resting heart rate?
I should probably be dead or something. I push myself quite hard when i'm cycling.
Re: What is your resting heart rate?
My 'resting' heartbeat is about 80 it seems, but in my defence, I haven't actually 'rested' for about two months now.
That, and I'm a fat fuck who's due a heart attack any year now.

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
my usual resting rate is low 50's, it goes up and down a few beats depending how much exercise i do but its pretty stable.
I started pushbiking with a group that are much much fitter than me as well which naturally made me get a bit fitter, but that's why I end up with a heart rate of 200, trying to keep up with youngsters that weight 9 stone dripping wet. I'm 13 dead at the mo.

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
As mentioned, resting heart rate can vary wildly and isn't really a baseline of health but can give an insight.
At the other end of the spectrum, I always thought you should avoid maxing your heart rate, which is 220 minus your age. Gonna guess Dan is about....erm, late 30's. Gonna say 40 for easy maths* which is 180. I'm no doctor** but was under the impression you should also be careful not to push too hard, too often***

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
I was indeed 40 in February so I’m an old fucker now.
I guess everyone’s heard the old 220 minus your age thing before but without doing any actual research isn’t that just a rough guide for average joes that don’t get much exercise or something? I’m not dead anyway so it’s clearly fine.

Re: What is your resting heart rate?
Mine's usually 60-63, but lack of exercise during lockdown (no judo and I've managed maybe 4 runs in total) it's crept up to 70.
If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.
