Lotus in Scotland

Post by mik »

I don’t have all the intricate details, or any insider knowledge, but late 2019 the single Scottish Lotus dealership (in Edinburger) went into administration. Leven group (who had only taken over from Murray’s for a year or two). Not only Lotus affected - Leven had Aston etc in their portfolio.

It looked like Grange were going to take the franchise, but according to the forum - they weren’t able to agree terms with the factory so have backed out.

No immediate impact to me as I use Indie Craig Moncrieff - but the nearest official dealership is now in Englandcestireshire.

According to SMMT Lotus sold just 9 cars (in the UK) in January - similar to last year - so they are still struggling as a brand.

In progress and due out this year AFAIK. Geely own Volvo too, so likely sharing there.

Oof, having driven the XC60 they will require a small miracle to make that boat have Lotus handling characteristics.

I wasn’t suggesting it was just a Volvo rebadging exercise.

But it probably will be...

be interesting to see how the Aston Martin SUV thing sells.

I had heard of an elise replacement coming soon but no details.

When i was in LEven before they went bust the head sales guy was suggesting that lotus were not going to introduce any new ICE models and all new models would be pure EV. Not sure what the percentage of bollocks in that was however as he was trying to sell us a 3-Eleven at the time. "Last of the V8 interceptors" ect

I fully expect them to share one of the XC platforms, but I really hope it isn’t just a rebadge - which people will see through.

And I hope you are not suggesting that a car sales person may not have spoken 100% truth.

And let’s be clear - despite what that image may suggest - this is LOW SPEED testing only.

As many as they can build I'd imagine.

Any more information on that?

It would satisfy a “can’t afford a Nomad” itch for many.

It’s wonderful.

That’s incredibly cool, you’d pick out the very worst roads and just batter into them with aplomb.

Jim Clark won't be spinning in his grave - he was too talented, but he must be on the lock stops. ;)
