I watched the "live action" Lion King over Xmas and they ruined a great kids movie. It was just completely void of any charm and the pacing was terrible.

I didn't mind the Lion King but the Jungle Book was properly shit.
The Aladdin remake is pretty good, well much better than I expected!

Has nobody on here seen 1917 yet? I quite fancy it as a “big screener”.

Re: The Movie Thread
My view is the exact opposite, Jungle Book was a reasonably entertining remake whereas Lion King CGI'd was shit in every way compared to the original. How the fuck they convinced Jon Oliver to sing worse than Rowan Atkinson I'll never know.
Aladdin was surprisingly not completely awful, not great, but could've been worse.

Bad Boys For Life booked for Monday

One of the finest films ever made is on Film 4 tonight at 11.20pm, Dead Man's Shoes. It's grim but unmissable in my opinion, Paddy Considine is on top form.
Re: The Movie Thread
Nephew showed me the trailer for JoJo Rabbit that he wants to see, not a chance.
Re: The Movie Thread
+4 (inc the right honourable Mr Dinny)
Considine is immense in tnis, and it brings both laughs and choking emotion. Love it
Re: The Movie Thread
Why, how old is he?
I saw it - fantastic IMO.

Re: The Movie Thread
I really want to see that, I'm a big fan of his work and I thought the trailer looked good. But it seems to be polarising opinions with reviews from 0 to 5 stars and critics in particular bashing it.
Cheers,
Mike.

Videodrome now on Netflix. David Cronenburg rocks.
Debbie Harry in a reasonably incomprehensible 80s horror film. Should be enough to sell it. Last saw it in the 90s, remembered a lot! It's a bit like They Live (yes I know it came after) including the glasses. 8/10.

I've watched it twice since it appeared on Netflix. I love that movie .

Re: The Movie Thread
I tend not to read reviews of films until after I’ve seen them, but I’ve only read/heard people saying positive things about JoJo Rabbit. Johnny Vegas says it’s brilliant, which is good enough for me. YMMV.

Watched Scanners recently? Loved it as a kid, ridiculous film. Might have to buy that now
Re: The Movie Thread
I've not watched many of his old body horror ones recently. Watched The Fly a few months ago.
Quite a big fan of his newer movies as well.
