Lord Buckethead gets 125 votes. Accept this. Next to be read out is Count Binface, who gets 69 votes....and Lord Buckethead promptly turns around and gives Count Binface the finger.
I did enjoy that.

Just a thought.

all the labour MPs are blaming their defeat entirely on brexit, none of them will admit that corbyn was the problem despite saying that people on the doorstep had been telling them that.

If you’re supposed to be a part for the many, perhaps it’s a good idea to listen to the many?

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
You’re raising a good point here, now the Tories have won a load of Labour supporters will they listen to the ex-Labour voters and try and shift to being more central to keep them because they’ve spotted the gaping hole in Labours ship which ultimately caused them to leave in the first place? E.g. try and increase spending in the NHS to somewhere near what Labour were proposing?Rich B wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2019 1:05 pmFurther proving how far their heads are buried in the sand.integrale_evo wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2019 11:56 am all the labour MPs are blaming their defeat entirely on brexit, none of them will admit that corbyn was the problem despite saying that people on the doorstep had been telling them that.

I don’t expect they’ll entertain all the ideas for example re-nationalisation.

Yep - exactly why Boris named his key priority as the NHS in his speech yesterday. He's going to pivot to ensure he can try and keep hold of some of those seats in five years time. He's no ideologue wedded to austerity, anti-immigration, etc. - complete chalk and cheese to May & Hammond - Hostile Environment Theresa and Spreadsheet Phil. The hilarious thing is how little people on the left realise it.
The interview with Faiza Shaheen v Jack Straw on Newsnight last night shows how the hard left of Labour are in total denial. Faiza was banging on about the system being rigged and it not being their fault, etc. etc. in between biting Straws head off for accidentally calling her Faizal "MY name is FAIZA - FAIZAL is a mans name!" like the entitled 14 year old she is
.
I'm sure she has absolutely no idea how truly awful she comes across as. Shes exactly the kind of person they need to ditch and ditch fast. The Blairite old guard are a totally different class of politician.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
And how can Labour possibly blame Brexit on their failure?
Even if we were to assume that leave/remain support was still 50/50, then it would effectively restrict CON to 50% of voters and LD would be restricted to the other 50%. LAB would have had access to 100% of the voters by default.
They need a major rethink if they want to ever get a chance again, but I expect Corbyn will stick around until Corbyn v2.0 is in place to carry on down the same road.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
My favourite ‘FaceBook analysis’ of the result was that it’s proof positive we NEED another referendum on Brexit. It’s the ONLY reason Conservatives won a majority. Labour voters voting Lib Dem to get another Referendum”

I watched this whilst being rather drunk last night and thought the same. She came across as a pouty little truth avoider. A horrible shit and I'm glad she lost in her constituency.GG. wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2019 2:07 pm

For a while the TV and radio has been full of traditional Labour voters saying they cannot vote for Corbyn so it's a little silly to try and spin things as a result of Brexit.

Both myself and a close friend completely agree with your view there. We concluded if a Corbyn V2.0 gets in then the next election is to go to the Tory party and labour will split into two. The end result being if labour aren’t willing to accept the truth now then they’ve got at least ten years until their next hopeful sniff at power.Rich B wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2019 2:29 pm And how can Labour possibly blame Brexit on their failure?

So Boris’s new cabinet is going to have at least 2 people who didn’t win their seat in the election.
Glad we’re getting away from all these unelected people trying to run our country.

Re: Bye Bye Boris!
There's a certain school of thought that thinks the spectre of a second referendum, that we may not actually leave the EU etc weakened our negotiating position with the EU to date.
The option of further extensions could have the same impact although to a lesser effect. He has a decent majority now so it's time to Piss or get off the Pot...
and besides, he can always being in fresh legislation later to undo what he's about to do anyway.
