Audi TT sport 240
Audi TT sport 240
Has anyone experience of the TT quattro Sport 240 in particular?
Can't see them going down in value but are the running costs large?

Re: Audi TT sport 240
Just get a regular 225 for £1500 ?
Re: Audi TT sport 240
A silver 225 isnt quite as special
I see the point tho

Re: Audi TT sport 240
I remember evo liking it.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
They're expensive for what they are, IMO.
If you're after one to keep for occasional use, polish it a lot and not put many miles on before selling for close to what you paid for it...maybe. If you're after something to properly use, you'd be better off getting a 225 and fettling it a bit. Or buying a pre-fiddled one.
My BIL has been after one (a 225). Loads of eBay, some right tatty shit on there.....

Re: Audi TT sport 240
Youre not kidding Matty. Looking at a few mot histories after the above suggestions and jesus its massive dog city - 7 plus, 9 plus owners and fail city on the mots. So 1500 quid car cost you a grand very quickly
Re: Audi TT sport 240
I looked at 225s before I bought my RX8 - about 50% were fucked even back then - and that was 10+ years ago when they were a lot newer. Mostly turbo issues.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
Dull to drive, that shape TT. The best thing about this one is the seats; but any mk1 TT has nice seats. I’d rather find a normal TT with the baseball glove stitching on the seats.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
Shame how Audi felt they had to neuter them because of a few accidents and the press reaction
When it came out they were included in the Best Handling cars of the year .....but they “fixed” them after that
Friend bought a sub 2k one in a nice dark blue and it’s pretty quick
I like the baseball leather seats too - usually I don’t give much of a stuff about the interior or a car

Re: Audi TT sport 240
Wasn’t that the model with the 3.2v6 out of the r32 golf or am I thinking of something else? Anyhoo surely more cherished and more interesting than the 1.8t no matter the state of tune, which are not exactly characterful engines even when built to 420hp as a mate had in his Ibiza cupra.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
The Sport was just a suped up 1.8 - they did do a 3.2 V6 in the TT but that had a few more bhp (247bhp) and somehow managed to be slower whenever tested than the 4-potdrcarlos wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 10:42 pm Wasn’t that the model with the 3.2v6 out of the r32 golf or am I thinking of something else? Re: Audi TT sport 240
I think the enthusiasts fit Cupra R steering and suspension to sharpen these up
Re: Audi TT sport 240
you can un-fix them pretty easily. Firstly remove the rear bumper and strip off the near 20kg of ballast and tow hook and do a proper geo.Mike1215 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 10:32 pm Shame how Audi felt they had to neuter them because of a few accidents and the press reaction

Plus the early type front arms/bushes and arbsscotta wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 11:54 pmyou can un-fix them pretty easily. There are still original spec cars around as it wasn’t a compulsory recall and some people were happy with their cars
Re: Audi TT sport 240
I had a good run out in a 3.2 up in Inverness when they came out and was underwhelmed as far as I can remember.Mike1215 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 10:57 pmThe Sport was just a suped up 1.8 - they did do a 3.2 V6 in the TT but that had a few more bhp (247bhp) and somehow managed to be slower whenever tested than the 4-potdrcarlos wrote: ↑Mon Oct 07, 2019 10:42 pm Wasn’t that the model with the 3.2v6 out of the r32 golf or am I thinking of something else? Re: Audi TT sport 240
The V6 was the first VAG DSG - only gearbox available with that engine. I’d not be keen to have a first gen DSG which is 15 years old.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
The v6 tt had a larger rear spoiler and a black exhaust surround, the sport 240 carried these over and was the only 1.8t engines cars to get them
Re: Audi TT sport 240
2008 tts 2.0 seems to be about 7 grand which might be a better buy.
Re: Audi TT sport 240
The popular mod to restore the steering sharpness is known as the ‘defcon’ mod, harder/different bushes from what I remember.
I’ve just bought a 225 for £125, haven’t seen it yet
QS is desirable, but will be quite some time before it’s really desirable.
