Renault Captur ?
MiL is finally parting with her Jazz that she bought new in 2006. She went to a Renault dealer today and decided she wants a Captur after looking at no other options whatsoever.
Is this a terrible idea ?
The problem is, if we do give her any other options, she'll go into a kind of decision paralysis and she'll never make her mind up.
She's been talking about replacing the Jazz ever since its first MOT ten years ago...

Re: Renault Captur ?
Sounds perfect to me - you don’t want to be getting involved with this sort of purchase.

Rev knows all about the Captur.

Hyundai Creta is worth a look. I'm occasionally obliged to check out these ***tboxes for work.
Re: Renault Captur ?
I've driven a few. For that sort of car, they're alright really.
Even new K9K 1.5 DCi sound terrible so don't be put off if you think it sounds like a tractor.

I've had several as hire cars and they're awful. If it has to be one of them make sure it has an armrest.
Alternatively I'd suggest a Qashqai. My dad was after a small SUV type vehicle and (in Denmark) the QQ was both cheaper and better equipped. Interior is also miles better.

Ah.
Never mind. She stopped off at the dealer again on her way home from our place and bought the one in the showroom.
I’m surprised how quickly she made a decision but quite pleased that I’m totally off the hook regarding advice now !
Re: Renault Captur ?
Yes that's the perfect result! And you have no connection to it when it goes wrong and all of a sudden it's 'that car you made me buy'.

Sounds like a get out of jail free card! Nicely done (through no action of yours).

You’d think. 13 years of what sounds like trouble free motoring and there’s a newer version of the car out... let’s go to an unknown instead!

A *French* unknown, no less. Famously more reliable than those flaky Japanese carsOrange Cola wrote: ↑Fri Sep 27, 2019 9:51 pm You’d think. 13 years of what sounds like trouble free motoring and there’s a newer version of the car out... let’s go to an unknown instead!
(although to be fair, I've never owned a Renault, the only French car I've ever had was my very first one, a 2CV and apart from terrible rust it was actually quite reliable)
