I’ve seen some vids of Model 3’s on track but not sure how long they last, would rather watch paint dry than watch a video featuring just tyre squeal. After all they have a track mode so it would be stupid if they didn’t last long out on track.

Roadster would be faster of course, but it would be a different category of car. Even comparing the Model S to the Taycan is pushing it a bit much.

Technically the Nio EP9 is the fastest road legal electric car currently but when they set their time the car wasn’t road legal as it wasn’t homologated which I believe it is now as it took the road car record at Goodwood shortly afterwards.
How about not having a sig at all?

Was that autocorrect? Have you tried Macan?
It does seem very unfortunate that they now have cars called the Macan and also the Taycan. Is the next one going to be the Praia da Luz?
The Porsche Arguido.

Not autocorrect. As James correctly identifies, it was for the 'lolz'. I'm so street. 8-)

Yeah, he's also recently backed down on Twitter. I figured it was because the car Shay itself on track, but not even getting onto the track?

Classic.

Will be interesting if they release a lap video with decent telemetry. You'd be able to get a fair idea of any thermal or charge related performance loses knowing the nominal mass, power and track characteristics.

Motor per wheel at the rear I'd guess. If they're the same power as current S that'll be nearly 1200hp total.

Tesla "S" (triple motor) at the ring today and some interesting comments from Dale Lomas of Bridge to Gantry this morning that it's completely stripped and wearing very sticky rubber. So a serious record attempt in the offing?

The 'Ring have said they've managed to find 30 minutes for Tesla to attempt a run.

A completely pointless attempt too as it sounds like it's not a stock production car. Still won't stop the fanbois and Tesla nerds from crowing from the rooftop about the almighty Musk and his wonder-wagpn.

You've just described every Nurburgring "road car" record ever. Not that I don't like seeing something vaguely registerable flung about at speed but there are no set of rules for attempts so really it's up the manufacturer just how modified a record car is.

I don't know why everyone is surprised that Tesla is going for the record now it's been set by Porsche. Have you ever known a rival car manufacturer to sit back & say 'Ah, they got the record - let's not bother sending our car around, even though we believe it to be faster'

It's a smart ploy, the 7 seat card, as if it doesn't go quicker than the Taycan, Tesla can just claim they were never going for it in the first place.

Not that anyone will believe that though. Still, should all be aplauded as they're both making fast, driver engaging(ish) cars rather, than Nissan Leaf shitboxes.
Cheers.

I don’t think anyone is surprised, just amused at the clumsy way they’ve gone about it - yet still making it work.

They're after the electric seven seat road car with an unreleased powertrain and a side of chips record.
