So in SA it’ll be £50k for the base 110 and £47k for the base 90.

294 kW from the petrol?!! That's 400 bhp!* OK maybe this is more interesting than I thought.

* hence P400 I guess.

I never knew I wanted a 400bhp Defender until now.

Nice. 400bhp. Even nicer.

At the campsite I was at last week there was someone with a rooftop tent on a Defender. Very 8-)
Left over crest; tightens.

Will we even get the P400 ?

Isn't that the same engine as the Jag 3.0 SC that was phased out due to emissions

Blimey, imagine the bill if you knocked one of those rear corners whilst off roading!

I thought the Jag was V6. That article says straight 6.

The Defender got the BMW M52 in SA for a few years so the straight 6 petrol might be exclusive to there.

I can't imagine many people here would go for it.

I still think it's over styled, maybe the more commercially focused ones will be more my cup of tea.

You are so behind the times. That was the awful V6 which was based on the V8 block, this is a new Ingenium straight 6. It's already available in the Range Rover Sport: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new- ... six-petrol

I really like the 90. I don't like the proportions of the 110. The only thing I don't really like about it is the headlights, which should be complete circles not truncated at the top.

Front end looks dated but back end looks like it’s from 10 years into the future. That square of painted C pillar looks awkward. I reckon it will be quite colour sensitive.

I really like the 90. Had a go on one of the Land Rover experience ramp things at the weekend in a FFRR and it’s still deeply impressive how competent they are.

Looks better than I thought it would, but I’d still prefer a Wolf.

Lots of photos about now. Looks great to me. Probably more Disco 3 than Defender to my eyes, but that’s no bad thing

My question is - who’s it for?

Certainly not Farmers.

London types?

London types with a house in the cotswolds would no doubt have a proper Range Rover Vogue instead.

London types with a shit house that’s kinda near the Cotswolds?

Oi, I'm not a London type!

ETA: the price is competitive with the new Jeep Wrangler and if it came down to a direct choice between a Jeep and a Land Rover, I'd invariably choose the Land Rover product.

The Cheshire set w4nkers that play at being proper rural-types and that want to mark themselves out from the other Cheshire set w4nkers that live on the edge of rural.
