I'll check tomorrow, pretty sure its less than a year old though.
Your fleet running reports
Re: Your fleet running reports
I cant quite remember where I left off on the non ov9 forum.
I tweaked the c63 with coilovers, and some pornstar exhaust manifolds. The car made some insane torque and it sounded rather well.
It was ballistic in a straight line ( 543bhp / 500ibft at 1500rpm ) but it left me somewhat numb going round bends. I found I missed manual gears.
So I went full u turn and bought a lotus exige s2.
It was a 190 non supercharged, cable accelerator car. Its a touring spec car ( elecy windows and carpets ! ) with performance pack upgrade from lotus , and twin oil coolers. It was also then supercharged but with some questionable results.
It had also been owned by the chief aerodynamicist at red bull ( I have a letter! )
I have sorted all the shite out , and now it looks like this
Really rather happy with it at the mo

Have you had the codes read ? A failed ABS sensor on the Passat recently triggered a raft of warning lights including power steering and ESP, plus ABS and tyre pressure.
Re: Your fleet running reports
Not yet, my dad has a code reader, should be able to get it there at the weekend. It's always a random failure that hasn't actually failed thoughSundayjumper wrote: ↑Fri Sep 06, 2019 9:37 pmHave you had the codes read ? Re: Your fleet running reports
The merc threw a hissy fit today. Appeared to get stuck in 6th, which made it very slow pulling away and made it work more like a cvt than a proper auto.
As we were approx 200 miles from home and it seemed fine when cruising I decided to keep it running and not risk restarting it in case is jammed in neutral and wouldn't move at all.
Got home, put it into neutral, then reverse and no drive, back to drive, no go. Put it in park, then back to reverse and it went in fine with a bit of a jolt, then in drive it went into first fine, again with a bit of a jolt.
Will see what it's like tomorrow when the fluid has had a chance to cool down as I doubt it enjoyed the journey back although I was careful not to use loads of throttle or labour it for too long.
Still managed to average 33mpg over the 500 mile trip which was included quite a few miles around the Welsh twisties.
Not best pleased though as it's only done 42k miles, and even paid a garage to do the vital must change at 40k to save the gearbox gearbox oil change at 38k miles.

e39 continues to schlep up and down the A11-14 comfortably, with only the odd misfire for added character. Fitted new rear discs, that was a pig of a job as the old ones were held on by a huge inside lip of rust/gunge/misc to the handbrake shoes.
New tyres on last week and the mechanic mentioned a cracked rear spring, I didn't notice due to the rear suspension being knackered ever since I got it. If it fails MOT on the spring on Friday I'll tempted to do something very silly like fit 30mm lowered Eibachs to it. It makes no sense to spend twice as much as stock springs to do nothing except compromise the ride for the sake of it looking slightly nicer (and that's a low priority with all the rust, chips and peeling laquer it has) still tempting though. I'm due a mid-life crisis any day now, maybe stancing the beemer might be the most sensible way to go about it

Fiver says they haven’t put enough in and it’s dropped the level low.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:21 am The merc threw a hissy fit today. Appeared to get stuck in 6th, which made it very slow pulling away and made it work more like a cvt than a proper auto.

Yeah, stuff going wrong with stuff that’s only just been looked at is always down to the stuff being done wrong.
Re: Your fleet running reports
This is fact and has never been disputed.
The RS4 has had its annual service - it can't get any cheaper than this. All it needed was an oil change, and I supplied the oil and filter. Fifty quid labour for the oil change and inspection, and the car was ready to pick up two hours after I dropped it off.
Does it get any better than that?

Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, mine started doing that. Hopefully it's just a bad oil change, or mechatronic at worst case. Mine was slightly more terminal, unfortunately, but I understand I was unlucky.integrale_evo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 2:21 am The merc threw a hissy fit today. It may have been bullshit, but I was told fluid changes can exacerbate underlying issues...as mine pretty much shit its biscuits after a fluid change too.
Re: Your fleet running reports
My understanding was that it’s actually quite difficult to get a proper level checked without a dipstick ? I know Merc just have caps on the ML and you need a service dipstick (I know, fucktardery) to get a good level.
I’m 15,000 miles past when mine should have been done as it appears that the first one at 40,000 and 5 years is the important one and after that they are supposedly ok.
It’s an area I’m not that comfortable with as it seems to be 50/50 whether they lunch themselves or not.
Dave!

Very much this. Our old XJ8 gearbox started to go tits not long after. The ZF is a bugger to do too if I remember rightly. Seemingly doing the right thing potentially turned out to be killing it with kindnessMatty wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 12:03 pmYeah, mine started doing that. Re: Your fleet running reports
And today it's fine.
Yes there is no level as such, the filler plug is the level and it needs to be done when hot, and obviously with the car in the air and level, and you need a pump to fill it as you fill from underneath.
I'll have a look under to make sure it's not leaking, but at the moment I'll just put it down to a temporary electrical glitch and see what happens.
I believe the valve body / mechatronic units need a power off and on reset of the ignition when they start to go funky and throw errors, usually accompanied by limp mode and the gearbox sticking in 2nd.
When we got back I left it running on purpose to see if it would come back to life after selecting neutral or park without an electrical reset.

Not a chance. It's 46C and 90% humidity outside and I don't enjoy working on cars anyway.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 1:53 pmDoing it yourself in the comfort of your own garage in half an hour?JLv3.0 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2019 10:11 am This is fact and has never been disputed.
