If it means you can't see the thing, that's an improvement over the standard one.

Learned something new today, I thought Anish Kapoor had exclusive rights to Vantablack but he only has that for artistic use.

The article I read a few days ago said the company has a black so dark, humans don’t recognise anything painted in it as a 3D object - pretty cool. 8-)
Cheers,

I saw a similar thing the other day about it. Clicked, went 'oh that' and closed the tab.

That'll learn me

I would like to see it in real life because I can't quite comprehend the effect. The studio it's in is obviously carefully lit, but from some angles you can clearly see some reflections and things like panel gaps and shut lines show up darker.

If the proper stuff is so good, why use an inferior spray on version? If you're not seeing any lowlights or highlights you won't see any brush strokes ;)

They apparently re-introduced some reflectivity to the paint on grounds of safety

Because all we need on the road is X6's being even more difficult to see. They're already the most likely to be seen with drug-tints on all the windows and spacker paint on the tail lights.

No. Although they do at least explain why.

Discussions on this stuff always remind me of HHGTTG......

"‘It’s the wild colour scheme that freaks me out,’ said Zaphod, whose love affair with the ship had lasted almost three minutes into the flight. 'Every time you try and operate these weird black controls that are labeled in black on a black background, a little black light lights up in black to let you know you’ve done it.’"

I’d be interested to know how insurers would view this.

A new Lamborghini painted this colour would be an Aventavantador.
