Graphics card for sells

Post by mik »

Youngest has just upgraded his Asus GTX 960 Strix 4GB
with a Gigabyte GTX 1070 8GB.

Anyone interested in his old one? It has been in use for 2.5yrs and he is looking for £60 plus postage.

Interesting timing. I've just bought an MSI GTX 1080 ti which means my own MSI GTX 1070 will soon be up on eBay.

TBH I could with upgrading my old 980.

I need to get David back on here to see if I can have any of his cast-offs.

My 1070 is the Gaming Z 8GB model. Seems to be fetching upwards of £250 on eBay. Forum rates may apply if you were interested. One owner from new, excellent cond.

I've looked at the 1070 and it's not a massive upgrade over the 980 for the outlay. Apparently to see anything worthwhile I need to be looking at 1080 - or the more recenty release 2070 which are £500! Prices of cards these days are insane.

1070ti is even stevens with the 1080 depending on overclocking / game specifics.

2060 is the current card pretty much equal to.

2070 is equal to or better than a 1080ti now.

And yes, seems a shame the next generation no longer seems to be a performance and efficiency boost for the same money, they're moved bc up a performance level but also a pricing level.

I was hoping to pick up a cheap 1070ti last year when the 20 series came out to have a dabble with sli, but even now they seem to be worth virtually as much secondhand as I paid brand new on amazon after spotting a decent deal.

Ray tracing alone is worth the 20 series. Have you seen how amazing that shit looks!?

Honestly, I think most of it looks pretty rubbish. Developers have got so good at fake lighting effects and reflections that what I've seen of raytracing so far doesn't seem worth the performance hit unless you're just sitting watching demos all day instead of actually playing games.

Installed the 1080 ti last night, ran the Rift for 90 mins before my head said enough. It's better I'd say but not leagues ahead of the 1070.
