Only big job it needed was the water pump last year. I did spend near 2k on refrshing the chassis but that was by choice.

Engine is the last of the normally aspirated straight 6es (I'm ignoring the inferior unreliable N53 that followed). Also the last with hydraulic pas.

I have zero need to change it and still utterly love how it drives - very analogue and with skipfuls of feedback. But I feel I need to get out of it before i end up keeping it forever. If I had the room I'd likely never sell it
Ahh, cool thanks.

Not being familiar with BMWs, for some reasons I thought they’re turbocharged rather than n/a. Less to go wrong then 👍

The 335i was turbocharged. The subsequent F30 generation saw the turbocharging in full swing, hence the N52/N53 in a few models being the last n/a hurrah :(

Yeah, I thought it was obvious that's what you were talking about - but if Rich wants to be a fanboy pedant then I'll out pedant him

I’ll take your word for it, my interpretation of a last hurrah would be the last NA engine designed/released (which tbh I don’t know, but the S65 was released years after the N73). It’s really not a big deal though!

I was visiting the Nurburgring in spring 2007 and was at the petrol station on the B258 at Döttinger Höhe. As I was filling up Mario Theissen (I'm sure it was him) pulled up in a yet to be released E92 M3 with gaffer tape over the badges. He filled it up with juice and then absolutely spanked it away from the forecourt with loads of wheelspin and hammered off down the road. It sounded bloody great!

Funnily enough I followed a E92 M3 with the roof down on the M25 today, he was hammering it between the gantries but must have been the standard exhaust as it made about as much noise as an electric car!

Stepwagon going great, got it serviced and undersealed, all ready for inlaws arriving and using it for holiday - so my wife reverses it into a post.

Repair quote is very steep (not least because of the fancy Honda pearl paint) so have to put it through insurance.

No chance of getting replacement parts from Japan that are already white? I know there would be a colour match issue but would avoid insurance

Possible but even more expensive than repairing these ones. Good secondhand complete tailgate in this colour over £700 + shipping + import duty etc. Probably about £1200 all in shipped by sea. Add a grand to get it here in a fortnight rather than 2 months, they're a big awkward thing to ship. Could probably get a bit cheaper if I was willing to wait for one of the importers to fill a container.

New part from Honda £600ish + shipping + import duty for a bare primer one that would need glass transferring etc.

Cut/weld/panelbeating is expensive but not that expensive.

Bumper would still need repairing too, and the panels behind bumper/tailgate are bent also so those would need sorting out anyway.
