Re: eBay 996 build thread
We’re a long way from that reality for now, but I’ll bear that in mind.

Of course he didn't, he never does anything
Re: eBay 996 build thread
I couldn't get down to Enfield on time to view in person, made £6900 provisional on 104k miles with history.
It's going through again Tuesday but Dave's situation has put me off.

Seems like all the big-ticket items have now been renewed / replaced.Foz wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 10:44 pm Oh yes..
Don’t have the invoices in front me but the reason for buying was:
Engine 12k
Rads & condensers
Clutch
Exhaust back boxes
I went through the invoices and previous owner had spent just under 20 grand in the 5 years he owned it.
I mean it’s pretty much sorted yeah
Since I got it:
Suspension refresh 2k- coffin arms Bilstein B8’s and various other drop links, arms and shit.
Wheel refurb and Michelin tyres 1k
Coils, plugs, MAF and a full service 1.3k
All Breaks inc caliper refurb 1.5k
It’s only done 66k
Re: eBay 996 build thread
That's what I'd like for the Spazda (mit Quaife sequential box) but even though the big bits (block and crank) are off the shelf GM bits, the rest of it won't be cheap, I understand the few documented builds used custom rods and pistons, plus you'll probably need a cam to be ground, valve train bits, etc. Good thing is the higher revving engine suits the gear ratios better, something I understand can be an issue with a straight LS swap.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 3:55 pm What I want is a de-stroked LS3, which is the 6.2 block with the crank from the 4.8 Vortec for 5.6 litres and (with appropriate parts) 600+bhp and 9000rpm. Not cheap, but not as expensive as it sounds.
If you did go LS though I'd say go for a cheap engine from the UK to start with, get it done to a drivable point and see if you like it, you can then take it out and put something fruitier in later. 5.3's and iron block truck motors crop up on eBay from time to time and can be had for not too much cash, and 5.7 LS1 alloy blocks appear at reasonable money now and again, so maybe jump on one of those if it's a good deal.
Or do a Sloppy turbo build with a big Beijing tornado dispenser from eBay

No progress to report but I'm really missing driving it, and especially listening to the flat 6 bark

I think you’ll be fine when you remember how much it’ll cost to DIY it.

I saw on the socials it was collected this morning. Any idea when you’ll hear back about it?

Re: eBay 996 build thread
I expect it’ll be a couple of days.
Just because nothing I do ever goes smoothly, they’re also going to quote for repairs to the damage the transport company did by dropping it off the ramp and coming within inches of smashing into a Fiesta. Apparently me telling him in writing and verbally that the handbrake didn’t work, and that the thread was fucked on the towing eye so it wasn’t a good idea to use it wasn’t enough
