It's a lot of work but are you a real car guy if you don't have an unfinished project taking up drive space for ten years?

Legacy GTB was a 2.0 TT Flat 4 though, the latter 6's were NA. Although mighty car mods did turbo the 3.6 Tribeca motor with a fair amount of success.

Pretty sure that's where I got the "idea" (someone else's idea) from, although I thought it was Skid Factory.

Aye, Supergramps has that engine. They also put a WRX flat four in a beetle and it was a monster.

JL, it was built at Al's shop but it was on MCM.

Often the engine swap is the easy bit (although adapting engine A to gearbox B can be a challenge if you're blazing a new path). It's getting all the other crap like the instruments, A/C, and so on to work that's the challenge. As Dave's car is not some track-only slag and he wants to drive it on the road without it killing him, I suggest that an engine swap is probably not the way forward. Although this is a defeatist attitude and he should embark on some exotic engine conversion anyway.

With all due respect to Dave, it's unlikely an engine swap will happen beyond the discussion part of it. Right?

The worst part of all this was that me and my car were due to be doing a magazine front cover feature next week, which obviously isn’t going to happen now 😢

Well fingers crossed it’s a little roller coaster story that ends up with a cheap fix! Have you got a next step planned out yet or are you still in the “bit pissed off” stage!?

Still waiting for a slot to open up with my tuna. I’m stoic about the whole thing. I’ve already had an offer of £6k for it as is so worst case I’m out £2k. I don’t currently want to give up on it, though. If it does turn out to be excessively expensive I think I will attempt the LS conversion but that will be a long and slow progress one.
