Still a classic thread. I thought photobucket dying would've taken these beautiful images away from us forever

This thread is making me painfully aware that I am having to wash my caravan (and it's a big job) to sell it and buy another. I'd much rather be spending the cash and time on a car like this.

Now you're an expert on 996s, Dave, have you established the cause of the non-working air-con? I would always assume it's the condensers mounted in the front bumper which need replacing.

That was always assumed to be the cause in my Navara (as it's exposed in the front bumper), but it kept passing the vacuum test and got refilled only to be empty a month later. It turned out to be the shaft seal on the compressor which doesn't show on the vacuum test. I got a used compressor that improved things to 6 monthly re-gasses but bit the bullet an bought a new compressor last month, it wasn't that expensive in the end from Autodoc. Quite often the shaft seal will fail if the system isn't used for a while. So if it passes a regas and is empty it's probably the first thing I'd look at.

Getting it tested next week before spending money on bits. New condenser is only £100, though.

This is correct, everyone else is wrong.
Trafficators FTW. I'm surprised there isn't a trend for getting rid of indicators completely in favour of retro-fitting trafficators. After all, making it impossible to work out what part of the car might flash orange is surely the intention?
IIRC C4 came with clear lights, so I withdraw my previous suggestion about ‘ambering it up’.

C4 also have silver brake calipers :geek: C2 black, GT3 red, PCCB yellow :geek:
