The GT3 uses the C4 body because it’s stiffer from the firewall forward. Some people prefer the C4 steering feel because of this and the slightly improved weight distribution (38:62 for the C2 vs 40:60 for the C4). If one were inclined, it’s relatively easy to ditch the front diff, propshaft and drive shafts and replace the front hubs with C2 items.

Hang on a mo', what about the diff & shafts wrt the weight distribution?
I would’ve thought it was obvious that the diff and driveshafts were a major part in the shift in weight distribution?

It is. I was trying to follow the thinking of the some people who may be inclined to buy a C4 because they prefer the steering feel, then remove a large reason for that improvement :?

Edit; ooh, more scans on the previous page. Thanks Mike 8-)

(I also never knew the 360 was 100kg lighter than the 355).
5.2 was the Porsche claim to 62mph in the ‘First Drive’ story

4.8 was the actual Autocar test time to 60mph

Bit slower than the lighter rwd car to 60 in the dry .....but then traction off the line has never been an issue for 911s

I think the only solution is an evolution of the mandatory e-start vid : to include a timed 0-60.

You're first up Rev. :geek:

I must correct my previous criticism on power figures WRT Autocar. They seem 100% bob on with their bhp v PS stats. 8-)

They often make typos or don't proofread things like a lot of mags are guilty of.

Generally though I've found they're pretty close on most of the info and they can usually smell a rat or provide corroborative information when cars are seemingly too fast or too slow for their performance.

Plus, they are often the only UK mag that actually tests a car with proper timing gear or actually puts it on a weighbridge to see what the real weight is rather than takes the manufacturers' fiction figures.

They aren't perfect but I find them interesting.

Despite many people's claims about the road testers they are usually fairly handy behind the wheel too.

The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

Wasn't the idea that the stiffer front end structure was responsible for the improved steering feel in spite of the worse polar moment* due to front diff/shafts.

*Feel free to start and argument about weight distribution vs polar moment for steering feel :D

Polar moment is like the tracks on a tank, driven by a dark brown mole.

Slower than an original Audi S3 in that handling test. Wonder how it compares with a current Golf R which has ~50% more power?

I've just had a call from the hospital. Rev has been admitted and is on a drip due to severe dehydration after splumphing all the moisture in his body over his new car.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have Richard Tipper's phone number. Rev has a challenge for him.

Genuinely hope it turns out ok for him today. With all the aggro with his BIL in recent months, he certainly deserves it.
