I can’t remember if it was called a prom but the sixth year that my mates were in had a big party at the Carlton hotel in Edinburgh in 2000. There were teachers there as well.

I’d already left school so I only got to go as my mate’s date after he got dumped a week before the party .

It certainly was never a thing when I left primary school 30 years ago, and I went to an all boys Grammar after that so, of course, they didn't do it there either... Not sure I ever missed out on anything?
