There's a fella on here who suggested bronze wheels to me, I still owe him a pint as it's always a great idea.

Some JPS Lotus inspiration - My mate Barry's Europa JPS. He's owned this car since before i was born - 1972 he bought it.

That looks great. I wanted gold wheels for my Mito as I have exquisite taste and reckon red and gold go together well but then everyone I mentioned it to looked at me funny

911 service and MOT time.

Misfire and non working xenon are the known issues. I replaced the bulbs to no avail, potentially a ballast?

Misfire could be MAF, coils, plugs?

Might also replace the engine mounts but will see.

A failed coil on mine made it misfire a bit, and they're regarded as consumables on these cars, so my money's on that. May as well do the plugs while you're there, the incremental labour is quite small once the coils are out.

A dodgy MAF - IME - just makes it a bit flat at the top end. Behaves fine pootling around.

Its fine when booting it, its part throttle cruising that's where it acts up.

Yeah, a mate just replaced all of his coil packs. The specialist said they were the worst they’d ever seen that were still actually making a spark. His wasn’t misfiring, but still felt better afterwards.

MAF had a snapped wire, I suspect even Beany’s mobile
MAF polishing service wouldn’t have fixed that!

E92 M3 - 7500 miles this year, all it requested was a brake fluid change and an mot. Cost £105 and two rear tyres at £240 each.

Cheap year for scheduled stuff - that usually means next year will be a big one in ///M servicing!

Sure enough, this time it’s due for more..... much more.

I’ve done about 10k miles this year. So, Oil, filters, spark plugs, gearbox oil, diff oil.... that lot will be the best part of a grand including //M tax!

I don't know how any of us can afford to run a car other than a GT3, to be honest. Buy a new one, change it for another new one after a year and pocket the proceeds having only paid for petrol and insurance.

Absolutely, I’m not upset about it - i also like the idea of keeping cars looked after. As I’ve said before, an unreliable car is an utterly pointless thing in my view!

Well, I've worked out why my boot always seems a bit damp - 'vert compartment drain holes are clogged. Recent continuous rain has put at least a litre of water in there. And of course the drain holes aren't easy to reach - they're under the chassis mounts for the hood frame itself.

So I've tapped the office kids to bring in a wire coathanger and I'll do this tomorrow:


Some people suggest putting drain cleaner down there, but that just sounds like a fucking stupid idea, even by my standards.

It's inspection 2 year for my M3 this year too. Hopefully it'll stay under a grand!
