Mate of mine in NZ had a 172 when I was over there back in 2012. I drove it on the South Island for a few weeks, they are a great little car.

Barry is correct though, the DC2 is much more special.

Ive driven Neils 182 a few times - its an absolute hoot. nothing nothing nothing 5000 rpm BLAAAAHHHHHHHH Limiter.....Repeat.

I drove the Clio 182 Cup quite a lot, while I owned the DC2 (did I mention that?) and I must be missing something as it just felt like huge grip and growly midrange to me, nowhere near the adjustable chassis the teggy has. Huge fun to throw down a B road don't get me wrong, and no doubt same pace in real world terms, but just not as engaging for me.

I actually rate the 106Gti higher, that was a sublime little car.

One of my friends had an early 106xsi a that was a fabulous little car to hurl down a B-road. It was a little cracker!

The 182 was one of the cars I tried after the Saxo VTS ( same as a 106gti to all intents and purposes ) but I couldn't really get on with the seating position. Felt like I was sitting on it rather than in it. Like Barry, I'm not a motoring journo either - preferred the supercharged Cooper S even though it wasn't as quick
