End of a GPS epoch
Best check your older sat navs for updates, as they may stop working after April 6th!

Re: End of a GPS epoch
Surely any device which works in the current epoch must have contemplated the millennium bug (since the current epoch began in 1999) - meaning it would have been designed to cope with the epochs rolling over?

How old is older?

You'd assume so, but never underestimate short cuts and cost cutting

Re: End of a GPS epoch
Good question, article is usefully vague on the subject.

I doubt many people would be that bothered about a 20 year old tomtom that had never been updated dying, but if it’s say, 10 year old luxury cars, then it’s an issue!

That may well be my Blaupunkt and Becker stuff fecked then
Annoying because the Blaupunkt is in-dash, and I like the look and function of the Becker.

Becker 7928 from 2007 still works fine
Haven't tried the Blaupunkt Rome 56E, iirc it's from 2009 so hopefully still good (tbh as long as the radio still works it won't matter for the use it gets).
I think the earliest nav I have is a Becker 7914 from 2005, I'll have to dig that out and give it a try.

Re: End of a GPS epoch
Hmm, I did about 20 miles with the mitos tomtom plugged in to charge it up a couple of days ago and it never found a signal.
I'd have thought a 2012 ish device would be ok with it though. Maybe it was just having a moment
