I read that same article this morning. Heavens-a-fucking-live - it's almost impossible to process, isn't it.
Walmart were doing toys etc with his brand on - anything he reviews or is associated with sells out immediately, apparently.
Just unbelievable and frankly speaking I don't begrudge him a single penny of it! Good on him.

Re: My kids must be lazy
I didn’t get past the 7yr old, but wow.
Re: My kids must be lazy
He's not really making $17.6m though is he, his pushy parents are.

Re: My kids must be lazy
This just illustrates how sheep like people are, one kid decides and millions buy or don't buy a toy, what the actual F.
I watch a lot of bike vloggers reviews but I don't base my purchase decisions on their amateurish efforts!

To be fair, it’s probably better than the way we picked out toys as kids. You’d see the advert on tv, pester mum and dad then get them home and find out the toys did about half the things they did on the ad!
Re: My kids must be lazy
Aye, social media is better for advertising to kids than anything else these days.
All of the advertising we do at work is focused on Social Media.

I've already had the
"What do you want to be when you leave school? "
"A Youtuber"
conversation with my 12 year old.
He didn't really like my response...

Re: My kids must be lazy
Oh no, that's his second choice...
No I tried not to crush his dreams immediately so tried to explain the process of starting small and building up his following. I offered to help set up a Channel, him make a few videos and put them out there etc. What do you want to cover - "Don't know", What sort of channel do you want "Don't know".
Like most kids of his generation, he wants to bypass the hard bit of actually working at something and jump straight into the Million Followers, Free Tickets to the Champions League Final, best mates with Lionel Messi part.
I'm pinning my hopes on some sort of Sports Science...

Have higher hopes.
Re: My kids must be lazy
Sports Science FFS. Why not Media Studies to really ensure he's still staying with you at the age of 30.
Re: My kids must be lazy
At the moment, he's sports mad but not of the level that would suggest any sort of professional sportsman in his future. He's good at most subjects in school but favours the sporting side.
In order to give him something to aim towards, other than "Play for Barcelona" or "Be a F2Freestyler", sports science seems to be a reasonable option to keep the idea of university on the table. As his academic career develops, the so will his university aspirations.
All this is ahead of you mate - but you'll be in your late 50's when that happens so you'll have the benefit of age...

Re: My kids must be lazy
He'll be getting a smack around the chops if he comes up with some shit like that anyway
