Pricing is out. And, er, oof. £890 for the basic one, £1089 for the one with more storage.

A couple of hundred quid of that price is just the RAM.

I mean it looks good - very light, very portable, not some horrid heavy rats nest of wires but that price, ouch.

ive played my nephew’s VR thing a load of times, its ok, but i have no desire to own one. I can’t be arsed standing and waving my arms around.l when i game.

It would be cool with a steering wheel set up though

I know everything is about convenience these days but I’d rather just have a dumb VR headset that connects to my PC. It’ll be way cheaper, lighter, won’t get as hot etc.

That's actually cheaper than I expected, given the current state of affairs! I'm sure the last Steam Index was more expensive at launch back before component prices were mental.

I can't see why they can't do a dumb one, surely just rip the innards out and knock £300 off the price? Plenty of VR users just sim guys (flight, race) and just plug into a PC anyway.

HL: Alyx was a genuine game (heh) changer for me. I can't even compare it to anything I've played as it's just incredible....comparing it to other games is like comparing an F1 car to a road car. Just a totally different level.
I'd encourage anyone with even a slight interesting in gaming to borrow a headset and play it. Shame we've never had anything like it since.

They do work incredibly well with flight sims and racing games though. Probably one of their biggest strengths.

That review above is a bit long, but the last section is subjective responses to both pieces of hardware which are probably more relevant.

Steam Frame has generally better latency, but the Quest has measurably longer battery life.

Beyond that, the subjective stuff is probably more interesting to those of you have used this stuff before.

Refresh rate and resolution are disappointing… similar refresh as Vision Pro but that has better resolution and been out a while now…

I keep forgetting about HL: Alyx. I see it's on sale now so I've bought it.

My PSVR2 has certainly improved GT7 when sat in the race seat with the wheel etc, but I don't think I could bring myself to spend that money on one.
