So I finished Will's KTM RC 125 a couple of weeks ago. I spent way too much on it really but hey ho what you gonna do for your kid eh? He's absolutely loving life on it.



I really enjoyed working on it. So much that I've been looking for another project bike, and tonight I put in a cheeky bid with 20 seconds to go on eBay on this, and won it by £3 from a guy who was in a bidding war with someone else all day I bet he's pissed.



It's a 1997 BMW R1100 RT with 71k on it. The oil-cooled version everyone in the know raves about. It has some kind of fueling issue, but for £613.27p it's worth a punt as a fix n flip project. I've not seen it in person, but the MOT history is long and fail/advisory free all the way back as far as it goes.

I've no idea how it's going to fit in my garage and it's incompatible with my Abba SkyLift. You only live once tho right...

My older cousins were bikers and both had big twin boxer BMW’s when I was a youngster (older models than your one obvs) so I have a soft spot for them. Amazing for the price.

Exactly Rich. I just paid for it and the guy says it has a heap of paperwork and bills etc with it, so I'm hoping it's not a major fix up and just needs some tidying other than whatever the running issue is. These old boxers are lovely, but I'd quite like to flip it for a profit and then do something else.

If it's fucked, it's probably worth more than that parting it out anyway like Zonda said.

So, a couple of weeks ago I decided I was going to change my 2023 R1250 GS for an R1250 RT. I've had two of them before and they are superb tourers, and more suited to the two-up riding I'm doing these days. Also, my GS was about to run out of warranty and I just fancied a change as much as anything.

I found a lovely 2024 Racing Blue Metallic RT Sport nicely optioned, one of the last 1250s before the new 1300s came out, at a Motorrad dealer in Peterboghorror, the same one I bought my original new R1200 RT at back in 2017 as it happened. We went to have a look, struck a deal for the part-ex and all was groovy. It needed the big valve service and some prep so collection was going to be 10 days away. Much excite.

Last Thursday was The Day. I took Thursday and Friday off work. I rode over to my girlfriends house the night before, and we were due to make the 2 hour trip together that morning on the GS, then spend the afternoon enjoying a leisurely ride back to civilisation.

Except, when I got up, my GS was nowhere to be seen. FFS. Some cunt had taken it in the night off her driveway.

I say some cunt. I actually know which cunt. And where he lives. Because the dumb fucker left "something" behind with his actual name on it. You couldn't make it up could you. Obvs I'm not going to say what just yet because this is public and the police are (allegedly) investigating.

Needless to say many emotions were emoted over the next couple of hours among the calls to Police and insurance folks and talking to neighbours and local farmers with CCTV. But I was not about to let some thieving wank stain ruin New Bike Day, so Vicky drove me to Peterboghorror and I bought the new bike anyway, just minus the trade-in.

There's a lot more to the "who", but can't really say much at the mo. Whilst I am highly pissed off at the loss, it'll all work out with the insurance I'm sure, but what I can't fix is my g/f and her daughter who have not slept well since worrying about whether the cunts will come back and jumping at every noise in the night. These fuckers don't think about that, do they?

Never a good time to have something stolen, but there can’t be much worse timing than that. At least you’ve got the shiny new one still, hope insurance isn’t a ballache

Hopefully you won’t be too out of pocket considering insurance payouts tend to be somewhat short of retail price, but with some luck not too far out from your trade in valuation.

Still a very shitty thing to happen, and I hope with time justice is done and everyone can start to relax at night again.
