Any emulator players here?

Post by Simon »

When I was young in the early 90's I was obsessed with Daytona USA in the arcade. I used to go up to the Trocadero in London to play it with a buddy of mine. I dreamt of getting a Sega Saturn when they came out to play it, but alas I never did.

As I had lots of shit going on in my life a decade ago I completely missed that Sega released a brilliant port for the PS3 and XBOX of Daytona, but that it's subsequently been removed from both marketplaces for 'licensing reasons'.

Don't let that stop me! Got RPCS3 setup, quickly found and downloaded the PS3 Rom for Daytona and I had it up and running on my PC in minutes! Ah, nostalgia is amazing.

Any other recommendations to play?

I’ve still got a Sega Saturn + Daytona (and Sega Rally) + Sega wheel.

The Saturn version of Daytona looks like ass. Plays ok if you can ignore your bleeding eyeballs.

Sega rally however is still a masterpiece and plays outstandingly even just on a digital pad.

I think there’s a more accurate ps2 port of the arcade version but I’ve never tried it. You can probably get a great actual arcade port on an emulator but having never tried one I’d have concern about how well the controls would work with an pad or home wheel.

With RPCS3 you map your controller buttons to whatever the Ps3 equivalent would be. I have an XBOX series X controller with windows dongle that i use. Also have a G27 but haven't set that up for it yet.
