Got almost everything done, between rain showers.

Unfortunately not the thermostat because it appears o bought the wrong one despite my car being listed in the comparability list. The flange for the turbo feed is different, the one I have must have been for an NA version.

Bit annoying as it’s not a very easy place to get to, and I lost some coolant changing the waterpump so made sense to do both at the same time.

The cam belt and aux belt tensioners and waterpump all feel really nice and smooth, didn’t really need changing but ‘while you’re there…’

Unfortunately while I was there I spotted the brackets for the xenon headlight height adjustment had come off the suspension arm. Just about got a drill in and boshed in a couple of spare undertray screws. Feels solid but with revisit in better weather.

I did them soon after I bought it, probably spring 2019. At that point they were well under by mileage but over by age. It’s about due by both markers, I wasn’t massively worried as most of my driving is at sensible speed with very little traffic / idling which tends to put more strain on them.

As it’s supposed to be the reliable sensible car I thought I’d give it a little tlc.

Really need to wash the car, but roads are still so shitty it barely seems worth it.

Fitted new wipers to both cars today - fun coincidence is that the drivers side wiper on an E-Tron is the same as the single wiper on an Evora.

Yeti service (and a dust!) due but at the same time the dash has lit up like the proverbial Christmas tree. Suspect an ABS sensor has triggered all three warning lights. If I can find a garage that won't charge me £80 to do a ten min diagnostic check then they can just fix it. Otherwise looking at OBDII scanner options with input from @Sundayjumper. Although even if I bought a scanner, cleared the code and it came back again, I suspect a garage would still charge the diagnostic fee if I asked them to fit it, along with the service.

If you're anywhere near me (Rombalds Moor, W.Yorks) I can read codes etcs.

Weather still looks a damn sight better than down here - don't think I've seen blue sky in over a week.

I'm amazed that @JonMad doesn't have an ODBII reader already, to be honest. They're almost essential these days.

When I plugged into the Jag ODBII, it told me which wheel the sensor had died on and once I'd drilled off the shitty wheel nut, it was a 2 minute job to change it.

You can pick them up for under £20, don’t need to be a techy or have car or computer knowledge to use them.

Plug in press a couple of buttons, read the code.

Will cost you more than that for a garage to do it.

I have some fancier more detailed laptop based software but still have a cheap plugin to have a quick look at things.

That code reader won't help with any ABS codes though, EOBD only.

The cheaper ones all seem to be.

I've got one of these but iirc it's been quite hit and miss whether it connects or tells you anything useful. I guess it won't hurt to give it a go.

You can get an OBDEleven for £50 without a plan and that will allow you read codes etc. You have to pay more if you want to code with it, but AFAIK for basic code reading and live monitoring etc you can do that without paying. OBDEleven are the officially sanctioned VAG readers I think.

Ah, thanks, £50 is almost within the 'worth a go' bracket.

Is the "Snack" plate recent? I must have missed the news.

Also, what's with Evora SR's apparently being worth £45k these days?
