Is there any substance to astrology?
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
The key to asstrology is to use your third eye, only then can you observe chakras. There are various methods to activate your third eye such as applying essential oils, sun gazing and using crystals.
I actually found that online

And pointing your hoop directly at the sun - don’t forget that
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
There is substance to astrology.
It's the substance that comes out of a male cow's bottom.

It’s only 16amps, barely a tickle
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
Can we talk about astrobiology instead? It looks similar and is much more interesting.

Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
People who fully believe in astrology have definitely been taking some substances.
Having said that, why do the personality types for different star signs seem to be so accurate?

Give people permission to be a cunt they’ll be cunts and claim it wasn’t their fault because mercury is balls deep in Jupiter's lady garden and Venus is busy rimming saturns rings whilst fingering Uranus
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
Astrobiology is a scientific field within the life and environmental sciences that studies the origins, early evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe by investigating its deterministic conditions and contingent events.
TL;DR: Yes.

They seem to fit because they’re general enough to apply to anyone. Same con as psychics and seances.
An absolute unit
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
I’ll never forget the first time I saw “psychic” Derek Ogilvie on TV.
I immediately recognised him as the previous owner of “Guitar Store” in the centre of Glasgow. I’d never bought anything from him, but my mate went through a period of buying various guitars/keyboards/drum machines and getting bored quickly. Derek always took these items back, with a hefty deduction on the price he’d paid. This generally included some piss-ripping and a very open “I know you’re bringing this back cos it’s an easy sale for you, so I’m going to make it painful for you” vibe. He was always a cheeky chappie, fast thinking and appeared pretty shrewd.
From another website
Ogilvie owned a guitar shop, various bars and a night club in Glasgow during the late 80’s and throughout the 90’s, but began his career as a psychic medium when his 2001 show “Psychic Sunday” was broadcast on the now defunct Glasgow based radio station XFM Scotland (formally known as 96.3QFM). Around this time Ogilvie also wrote psychic columns for various local newspapers, as well as organizing and promoting his own live psychic shows regularly touring theatres throughout the West of Scotland including the Pavilion Theatre (Glasgow)
He’s apparently done very well on TV in Europe with his medium/psychic shizzle.
I don’t know whether to be disgusted at a show/talent that is clearly utter bollocks, or to reluctantly respect his success in removing decent quantities of money from the large number of idiots who are hungry to lap this crap up. I think I err towards the latter….

Just did a quick YouTube search - this video is pretty old now (2008-ish)
Re: Is there any substance to astrology?
Yeah, I used to go out with someone who was really into psychics and that. Went to see Derek Acorah before he was completely discredited
I never got it but it was basically a hobby so wasn't that bothered. I feel bad for people who genuinely believe that they've been able to talk to a dead relative though, grief fucks people up and taking advantage of that is gross.

We used to have an old (c. 1910s) book called "The Art of Cold Reading" as a coffee table curio. It was basically an instruction manual for how to do the fortune teller act.
A series of statements moving from the completely general to the specific based on responses; non-specific positive statements that people *want* to hear; guesses based on probability and plausible sounding diversions when you get them wrong
Obvious really, but perhaps slightly surprising (for it age) in its outright cynicism.
"If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough"
