Wales 20mph limit
Re: Wales 20mph limit
Wandsworth Council have these posters everywhere “a little slower is a lot safer for everyone” with regards to the whole shithole being a 20 zone now
You’re more likely to be stabbed to death ffs.

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Wales 20mph limit
So they've gone from a situation where, on average, no one broke the speed limit to one where, on average, everyone broke the speed limit.
How's the speed camera revenue looking ???
Re: Wales 20mph limit
Hidden within that figure is the truth that actually driving conditions have got much worse. Even more time is being spent in stationary queuing traffic to the point that on a couple of occasions recently I've had to abandon my journey and go a very very long way round to avoid missing appointments, films at the cinema we'd booked, etc. because the traffic was at a standstill and hadn't moved in 10-15 minutes.
It also really ramps up the frustration as in London that "average" figure is very misleading - it is 50% doing 5mph in stationary traffic (or stopped) and then brief squits up to 30mph, save than the latter is now 20mph which just feels like you've gone from crawling to a slightly faster crawl.

"Could"
"Should"
Distinct lack of definitives there. Funny that.

Re: Wales 20mph limit
Can someone explain what I should be looking at?
Re: Wales 20mph limit
I was hoping you could tell me
It seems they've cherry-picked a road with lots going on - entrances, lights, raised crossing, bus stop - to support the 20 "in busy pedestrian and residential areas", then shown it's quiet It's wishy-washy and limp.
Re: Wales 20mph limit
The irony is that no rational human would argue against 20 in those areas, its the empty non residential stretches that were perfectly safe at 30mph but are now tedious and cause people to pay even less attention, that are the issue. But that would require rational reasoning and a focussed attempt to address any issue ( and more money ).
Re: Wales 20mph limit
I'm pretty sure lots of what's was 30 until recently was NSL during the 90s.
These are lightly enforced at 30 but painfully slow at 20!
I've done about 200 miles this week with my learner son and we get overtaken in a 20 each day!
It is intimidating to the point where on the last 2 occasions I've ask him to pull in and let traffic past which he shouldn't have to do.

Re: Wales 20mph limit
But have they published any data that shows if/what impact there's been to road safety, accidents, injuries etc?
